The Opportunity:
Make your mark while you grow your career! As a Thermal Jackfish Exploitation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a top tier SAGD asset. You will be a key player in a dynamic and collaborative team of professionals focused on optimizing our SAGD assets. Working with a multi-disciplinary team of Geoscientists, Production Engineers, Reservoir Engineers, field staff and other company professionals, you will learn to use proven subsurface engineering methods and field operations in an environment that encourages the development and execution of innovative ideas. You will deliver technical and economic evaluations that influence the company’s existing and future assets and implement optimized recovery methods that ultimately focus on maintaining and growing production in an environmentally sustainable way.
Job location: Calgary, Alberta
Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts
Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:
Work in a team environment to identify opportunities and create depletion and/or development plans to maximize the net present value (NPV) of a wide variety of projects
Monitor and optimize reservoir performance and recovery strategies for Canadian Natural assets
Provide effective regular project updates and technical evaluation reports for senior management
Design and justify potential workovers, steam and depletion plans, operational and reservoir targets
Maintain and update monthly and annual production/injection forecasts for thermal wells using various technical methods, including input into budget, 10 year plan, and corporate reserves
Ensure the incorporation of relevant regulatory and environmental requirements for asset development plans
Lead and participate in best-practice and competitor analysis studies to support the continuous improvement of our thermal business
What You Bring to the Role:
2-15 years of subsurface experience (Production, Exploitation, Reserves, Reservoir) with a Bachelor of Engineering and registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA
Demonstrated problem solving, communication, organization and leadership skills
Basic knowledge of related disciplines geology, production, drilling / completions and facilities engineering
Experience with data analytics and visualization methods / software would be an asset (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Python)
Practical experience with economic analysis and project management would be an asset
