Description

• Pumping equipment, chlorination equipment, and compressors should all be checked, cleaned, and lubricated. • Under the supervision of a qualified trades person, adjust and repair waterworks equipment. • Find and repair reported water leaks, as well as water mains, valves, and outlets. • Hand and power tools are used to install water meters. • Gas pipeline valves should be checked and lubricated on a regular basis. • Use gas detecting devices to conduct routine surveys of gas mains and distribution lines to detect and locate escaping gas. • Investigate gas leak reports to determine the exact location and extent of leaks. • Excavating the ground to expose gas lines and repairing damaged pipes • Keep a record of the work done as well as the location and condition of the pipelines. • Provide information on underground gas distribution lines and monitor excavation work to ensure the safety of underground gas facilities. Requirements • Completion of secondary school may be required. • Technical college degree in a related field. • 3 to 5 years of experience in the same field. • Competent with hand and power tools. • Capability to disassemble machines, equipment, or devices in order to remove and replace defective parts. • Ability to consult blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as needed. • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices. • Experience with routine maintenance. • Excellent organizational and follow-up abilities. • A keen sense of detail. • Professional appearance and demeanor. • Ability to concentrate while working alone. • Excellent time management abilities.
