We strive to have employees that are multi-faceted and versatile with a variety of skills.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We currently have an opening for a seasonal <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Materials Technician in our Bathurst, NB office.</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Educational &amp; Experience Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology would be an asset.</li>\n<li>Previous experience in materials testing and/or inspection is preferred.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of relevant testing methods and procedures, including ASTM and CSA standards</li>\n<li>CCIL Certifications in testing of asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and soils is an asset</li>\n<li>Use of GPS and survey experience would be an asset.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Main Duties:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collect samples and perform laboratory and field testing of various construction materials, such as concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates, etc., to determine material properties and quality.</li>\n<li>Compaction testing of soil, aggregates, and asphalt concrete;</li>\n<li>Testing of fresh concrete/grout/mortar and casting of laboratory specimens;</li>\n<li>Conduct inspections and assessments of construction sites, document findings and provide detailed reports on test results, including analysis and recommendations.</li>\n<li>Prepare detailed and accurate field reports for use by project managers and engineers.</li>\n<li>Maintain effective communication with project teams, providing regular updates on field activities and findings.</li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.</li>\n<li>Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.</li>\n<li>Collaborate with the project team to troubleshoot and resolve any materials-related issues.</li>\n<li>Ability and willingness to work under varied weather conditions.</li>\n<li>Capability to walk and engage in fieldwork for extended periods across occasionally challenging terrain, as well as the ability to transport equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.</li>\n<li>Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the field, promoting a safe working environment.</li>\n<li>Adhere to health and safety protocols, promoting a safe working environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seasonal position from beginning of May to end of November with the opportunity to return next season.</li>\n<li>37.5+ hours/week (varies with client workload).</li>\n<li>Pay rate starting at $24 per hour.</li>\n<li>Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Interested individuals, click here to apply: <a href=\"https://gemtec.bamboohr.com/careers/302\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https://gemtec.bamboohr.com/careers/302</a> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Thank you for taking the time to consider GEMTEC.
