The setting is similar to a small school cafeteria, serving youth with behavioral health needs in a structured and supportive environment.</p><p>This role is responsible for food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and maintaining food safety standards. Successful candidates understand that every interaction is an opportunity to model professionalism, kindness, and respect.</p><h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">What You&#39;ll Do</span></h2><p>Under the supervision of the Operations Department and in collaboration with a Dietitian, you will:</p><ul><li><p>Prepare nutritious meals for children and adolescents in care.</p></li><li><p>Arrange food and beverages on steam tables, coolers, trays, and mobile carts.</p></li><li><p>Ensure food is served safely and efficiently.</p></li><li><p>Follow all food handling, preparation, and storage regulations.</p></li><li><p>Monitor and maintain proper refrigeration temperatures.</p></li><li><p>Clean and sanitize utensils, cooking equipment, storage areas, and serving stations.</p></li><li><p>Set up and break down tables and service areas as needed.</p></li><li><p>Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment.</p></li><li><p>Model professional, respectful, and courteous behavior with youth, families, colleagues, and community partners.</p></li><li><p>Support a culture of dignity, inclusion, and respect for all individuals.</p></li></ul><h2><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">What We&#39;re Looking For</span></h2><h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Minimum Qualifications</span></h3><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Completion of at least the 10th grade required.</span></p></li><li><p>High school diploma or GED preferred.</p></li><li><p>Valid driver&#39;s license and current auto insurance.</p></li><li><p>One to three months of experience or training in food service, including food preparation and storage.</p></li></ul><h3><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Preferred Qualifications</span></h3><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Experience serving meals to children in a residential treatment, healthcare, or school setting.</span></p></li><li><p>Knowledge of food preparation, handling, and storage procedures.</p></li><li><p>Comfort using Windows-based software and email systems.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.</p></li></ul><p>Because KVC conducts a substantial portion of its operational and administrative business in English, the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is an essential function of this position.
