Description

Echocardiography Technologist (Echo Tech) Job Title: Echocardiography Technologist (Echo Tech) Department: SCH Cardiology Full Time/PRN: Full Time Job Summary Performs diagnostic echocardiography procedures using ultrasound technology to obtain images of the heart. Supports diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac services for a designated patient population. Minimum Qualifications • Graduate of accredited cardiac ultrasound program OR nationally credentialed OR two years OJT cardiac ultrasound experience. • Licensed Cardiovascular Technologist or Technician. • BLS certification preferred. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in Adult, Pediatric, or Fetal Echocardiography. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Explain procedures and ensure patient comfort/safety. • Verify patient identification and obtain clinical history. • Perform echocardiography studies per protocol. • Identify/adjust for normal and abnormal cardiac function. • Operate and maintain diagnostic ultrasound equipment. • Document and archive studies in hospital systems. • Clean and disinfect equipment per infection control standards. • Communicate findings effectively with physicians. • Participate in on‑call rotation and emergency response. • Assist with orientation and education of staff. • Maintain continuing education and credentialing requirements. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods. • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling. • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; >50 lbs with assistance/devices. • Assist with patient transfers/positioning using proper body mechanics. • Manual dexterity for procedures and computer use; adequate vision, hearing, and speech. All candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position.
