All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.</p>\n<h2>Duties, Responsibilities & Other</h2>\n<p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: </strong></p>\n<p>The Highway Permit Inspector will review, inspect and process new street additions and county bond projects and additions; ensure permit work zones are designed and implemented properly and traffic control is maintained according to guidelines; and respond to citizens, elected officials and local government officials regarding permit inquiries/concerns. Position will conduct on-site inspections for subdivision and permit projects; review site plans, special permits, rezoning request and land divisions; complete required paperwork to process permits and subdivision acceptance; and meet with applicants in the field, review project work zones and review/determine bond estimates.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of highway construction and roadway maintenance.</li>\n <li>Ability to read and interpet site plans, road construction plans. property plats. utility plans and sketches.</li>\n <li>Ability to interpet VDOT Road and Bridge standards and specs, VA Work Area Protection manual, Access Management and Land Use Permit Regulations</li>\n <li>Considerable knowledge of land use premitting process and procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Other:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Availability for day and/or night work to support the contractor's schedule.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em>* Essential Duties and Responsibilities are the basic job functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. </em> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education and/or Skills Required: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience</li>\n <li>Highschool/GED</li>\n <li>Ability to understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures. </li>\n <li>Demonstrate basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry. </li>\n <li>Possess the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently. </li>\n <li>Work effectively as a team member and complete daily reports by hand and computer. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Valid Driver’s License</li>\n <li>Ability to pass and maintain required certifications.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.</li>\n</ul>",
