Description

Assistant Professor (Principal Faculty Member) PA Program, Clinical Curriculum and Site Development Job Description: The PA Program at Baldwin Wallace University invites applications for an Assistant Professor (principal faculty member) for the physician assistant program offering a Master of Medical Science degree. This is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position. This position reports to the Chair/Program Director of the PA program. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Primary Responsibilities Serve as a course director and content area instructor within the didactic and/or clinical curriculum Develop, implement, and maintain course syllabi, learning outcomes, and instructional objectives aligned with program competencies and accreditation standards Contribute to the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the didactic and clinical curriculum in collaboration with program faculty Participate in the development, review, and revision of academic policies and procedures Engage in curriculum evaluation and revision processes informed by program assessment data Advise and mentor students, supporting academic success and professional development Contribute to the ongoing review and implementation of the program’s mission, goals, and competencies Assessment, Accreditation, and Clinical Education Responsibilities Design, implement, and contribute to the ongoing refinement of the program’s comprehensive assessment plan, including the measurement of student learning outcomes, competency achievement, and overall program effectiveness Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative assessment data to inform curricular improvements, instructional strategies, and programmatic decision-making Engage in continuous quality improvement through systematic review of outcomes data (e.g., course performance, summative assessments, clinical evaluations, and national benchmarking metrics) and implementation of resulting action plans Participate in student evaluation processes, including clinical site visits, preceptor evaluation and remediation, competency-based assessment, progression decisions in accordance with program policies Contribute to accreditation activities, including data collection, documentation, self-study development, and preparation for accreditation reviews and site visits in alignment with ARC-PA standards Clinical Education Responsibilities Actively participate in and share responsibility for the recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of clinical sites and preceptors in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education and program faculty Evaluate clinical sites and preceptors using established program metrics, including student evaluations, preceptor feedback, and site performance indicators, and contribute to decisions regarding site quality and utilization Analyze clinical education outcomes, including student performance across rotations and variability among sites, to identify trends and inform programmatic improvements Identify and address gaps in clinical training experiences through targeted quality improvement initiatives that strengthen clinical education capacity and effectiveness Ensure alignment between the didactic and clinical curricula by integrating feedback from clinical outcomes into curricular planning and revision Additional Program Responsibilities Participate in the admissions process, including application review and candidate interviews Participate in OSCEs and skills assessments during the didactic phase Engage in programmatic events such as White Coat Ceremony, orientation, open houses, and graduation Serve on program, school, and/or university committees Engage in service and scholarly activity consistent with university expectations Minimum Qualifications Current NCCPA certification Minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience as a PA-C Master’s degree or higher Eligibility for or current licensure as a physician assistant in the state of Ohio Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to learn and utilize program-related software platforms Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in graduate medical or PA education Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work is primarily performed in an office environment. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, hear, and see continuously, and to walk, write, and type frequently. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Travel to clinical education sites is required, and some work will be performed in classroom, simulation lab, and clinical settings. Evening and weekend hours may be required to fulfill program responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Conditions of Employment Must successfully pass a background check. Current NCCPA certification and licensure as a physician assistant in the state of Ohio (or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date) are required.
