    "description": "<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">The Center for African Immigrants and Refugee Organization (CAIRO) is a culturally specific organization that aims to reduce opportunity gaps and address barriers for African immigrant youth in St. Cloud area schools. </span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: 'Lato',sans-serif\">Our mission is </span>to advocate for and act to increase equity and social justice through programs, services, community organizing and collaborative leadership that create equitable opportunities for African refugees and immigrant children, youth and families to thrive. We envision a more just and equitable society in which children, youth, and families live in sustained, supportive communities, which reinforce the cultural wealth and lived experience of the family.</p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">CAIRO works closely with African students, parents and schools to build spaces where children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.</span><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> We are seeking summer/after school tutors who will work with students needing extra help in areas of reading, science and math, for 3rd-8th graders. This program would also provide supplemental enrichment activities including but not limited to mentoring, technology skills building, and extra-curricular activities. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities: </span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Provide in-person tutoring sessions with students at the CAIRO office or in schools. Tutoring will include working in a one-on-one or group setting.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Facilitate family involvement with schools and student success through the SPACE program</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Meet with students and review subjects relevant to their skill levels and academic performance. Carefully explaining how to solve problems and checking completed work.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Use culturally responsive teaching strategies, understanding the challenges of disrupted education, English language learners, and immigration.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Help students develop study skills and organization techniques to help improve their academic performance.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Keep reports on students' activities and share reports with supervisors.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Besides the academic support, tutors supervise groups of students, providing discipline and serving as a role model.<br><br></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Education Requirements:</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">REQUIRED: Bachelors in educator and/or teaching license </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">                     Ability to deliver original instruction in the area of student needs</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">PREFERRED: Bilingual and prior experience</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Skills &amp; Abilities</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Knowledge of &amp; experience with technology and troubleshooting skills required. Google Office Suite experience strongly preferred. </span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Excellent oral and written communication skills; good organization/ planning skills; good analytical skills to read outcomes reports and measure a child's progress.</span></li>\n<li><br><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Home visiting or other direct experience working with parents is preferred.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Work Environment &amp; Location</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Work hand in hand with CAIRO staff to develop a tutoring schedule and strengthen the tutoring program. Tutoring support will be in-person at the CAIRO office or at specific schools in St. Cloud.
