This position involves</span><span> mostly</span><span> field work and requires a high level of physical fitness, strong decision-making skills, and expert skiing ability. Candidates will support the Ski Patrol team in emergency response, mountain safety, avalanche mitigation, and guest service.</span><span> Candidate patrollers must h</span><span>ave the ability to adhere to written and verbal instruction</span><span>.</span></span><span><span> </span></span><br /><span><span> </span></span><br /><span><span>This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Solitude Ski Patrol Union. </span><span>Candidate patrollers are on probation for </span><span>90 days</span><span> from the first day worked to assess skiing skills, first aid skills, sled handling skills, and decision-making skills. </span><span>They may be terminated at any time during this period</span><span>. </span><span>Grievance and Arbitration do not apply to Candidate Patrollers during the probationary period. </span></span><span> </span></p></div><div><p></p><p><b><span>Key Job Requirements</span></b><span> </span></p></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Full attendance at the Solitude Ski Patrol refresher is required.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Current medical certification is required. EMT is preferred. OEC is acceptable. WFR is the minimum. </span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Current BLS CPR certification is required.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Expert skiing skills and appropriate personal gear for expert terrain for all types of weather conditions.</span><span> </span><span>Certain gear</span><span> will be provided by Solitude Mountain.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Ability to obtain an ATF Explosives Employee Possessor Permit.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Basic knowledge of knots, systems, and rope management skills.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Must abide by all resort policies and procedures.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><p></p><p><b><span>Additional Skills &amp; Certifications</span></b><span> </span></p></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>C</span><span>ommunication, guest service, leadership, and decision-making skills.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Ability to work effectively with others and maintain professionalism under stress.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Basic understanding of ski resort operations.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Ability to hike and ski in steep, exposed terrain in arduous conditions with packs weighing 30–50 pounds.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div></div><div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Must pass a criminal history and background check.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Must have a valid driver’s license and pass an insurance driving</span><span> history inquiry.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>EMT’s must be licensed in UT.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Availability to work weekends, holidays, and a full season from November through April, including 5 pre-season patrol refresher days beginning in late October.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Daily attendance at scheduled morning meetings, prepared for patrol. End-of-day duties may extend beyond normal hours until all guests, patrollers, and staff are down and the mountain is inclement weather in a high alpine environment.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Ability to reason and respond effectively in emergency situations under high stress.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Manual dexterity to operate rescue and safety equipment.</span></span><span> </span></p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p><span><span>Ability to lift, maneuver, and carry at least 50 pounds, both on foot and while skiing or
