We are known as experts in engineering, manufacturing, and servicing innovative automated materials handling systems including conveyors, automatic guided vehicles, automated storage & retrieval systems, and integrated controls.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The company is currently seeking an experienced <strong>Mechanical Design Supervisor</strong>.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary/ Primary Purpose </strong></p>\n<p>Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Program Manager, the Mechanical Engineering Design Supervisor will work closely with the Project Engineers supporting project teams. The Design Supervisor is at the same level as Project Engineers. The Design Supervisor is responsible for managing a core group of engineers who execute design deliverables on a department and project level. This includes managing the resources, schedule, budget, and deliverables of the group work. This position also leads a group of three (3) to eight (8) mechanical engineers who are responsible for producing mechanical drawings, mechanical equipment designs, direct and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, and installation. The Design Supervisor will also keep tight control of the CAD database.  This includes revision control, change bulletins and occasional training on design changes which impact the department.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Major Areas of Responsibility </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Staff allocation and utilization, personnel development, talent development.</li>\n <li>Group work product, quality adherence and standardization for consistency.</li>\n <li>Process development and efficiency improvements</li>\n <li>Work with peers within the department, in other departments, divisions, shops, and vendors.</li>\n <li>Works to achieve overall objectives at an optimal cost.</li>\n <li>Estimates number of employees needed and schedules work across multiple projects to meet completion date and technical specifications.</li>\n <li>Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain department standard drawings and associated job specific detail drawings.</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain department standard tools such as conveyor manifest, power transmission, modular CCIT (Conveyor Component Information Table) format, CAD standards, blocks and icons.</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain department work procedures, checklists.</li>\n <li>Drive innovation and utilization of new components and technologies.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Broad Knowledge </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.</li>\n <li>Computer Skills – Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Adobe Systems.</li>\n <li>AutoDesk Tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit)</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Skills & Abilities </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others.</li>\n <li>Service Orientation — Actively looking for ways to help people.</li>\n <li>Coordination — Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.</li>\n <li>Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.</li>\n <li>Judgment and Decision Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.</li>\n <li>Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of you, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.</li>\n <li>Verbal and Written Expression and Recognition — The ability to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.</li>\n <li>Information Ordering — The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).</li>\n <li>Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.</li>\n <li>Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.</li>\n <li>Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.</li>\n <li>Inductive Reasoning — The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).</li>\n <li>Deductive Reasoning — The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.</li>\n <li>Limited project related travel to sites, shops, and vendors. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Education & Experience Required </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>BSME or equivalent technical degree or work direct work experience.</li>\n <li>Minimum 5 years’ experience in lead design & estimating industrial equipment in one or more of the following fields: robotics, automation, unit handling, chain conveyor systems, electrified monorails, design or castings & forgings & manufacturing fabrication processes.</li>\n <li>Requires strong communication skills for customer/ supplier contact. </li>\n <li>Requires minimum 5 years of supervisory experience handling multiple projects. </li>\n <li>Requires knowledge of & experience using CAE equipment</li>\n <li>Advanced proficiency in Autodesk software suite, including AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit.</li>\n <li>Experience developing and utilizing AutoLISP routines and custom macros to enhance design automation and productivity.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Inventor iLogic for rule-based design and automation.</li>\n <li>Experience with Autodesk Vault for data management, revision control, and collaboration.</li>\n <li>Strong understanding of file management best practices, including structured storage, naming conventions, and version control.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of data flow processes from conceptual design through engineering release and integration with enterprise systems such as MRP/ERP platforms (e.g., SAP).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Demonstrated Physical Abilities:</strong></p>\n<p>Office - Remain stationery for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Job Site - Capability of maneuvering through an industrial conveyor system requiring climbing access ladders, negotiating screen guards and lifting and/or carrying objects up to 40 lbs.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Daifuku Airport America Corporation is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled, and federal sub/contractor.
