Description

#ONEr2p At r2p, we’re not just engineering transportation solutions - we’re reshaping how people move. As a global leader in intelligent transport systems, we deliver cutting-edge software and hardware that make public transit smarter, safer, and more connected. From mobile CCTV, passenger counting (APC), passenger information and announcement (PISPA) systems to reliable onboard networks, our solutions are trusted by transport operators and manufacturers around the world. Now, we're looking for a System Engineer to join our passionate team in San Sebastián. If you're driven by solving complex challenges, turning ideas into scalable solutions, and making public transport amazing - this is your stop. This is how You Make a Difference As a System Engineer at r2p, you will be the crucial link between our customers and our technical teams, translating real-world requirements into innovative and robust systems. Your key responsibilities include: Serve as the technical interface between customers and internal teams (Product, R&D), translating client needs into clear, scalable solutions.  Analyze customer specifications and propose optimal solutions for electronic systems (e.g., CCTV, PIS/PA, passenger counting, data networks).  Lead and participate in technical meetings, design workshops, and project planning sessions, both internally and with clients.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless system integration.  Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure successful and timely project delivery, aligning technical execution with customer expectations and project milestones.  Develop comprehensive technical documentation (drawings, capacity and coverage studies, test protocols, mounting and commissioning guides, training and maintenance manuals).  Support all phases of system delivery - design, integration, testing and commissioning.  Configuring, debugging and testing solutions during the different project phases (FAI, FAT, SAT, integration tests). Design, assemble, and operate testbenches to validate system performance, simulate real-world scenarios, and ensure functionality before deployment. Execute system validation and performance testing according to project requirements and protocols.  Deliver on-site support and roll-out assistance for customers.  Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement of products and solutions.  Identifying new development needs to meet the project requirements as well as identifying potential technical risks during the design phase. Leading the preparation and delivery of customer training activities. Identify potential technical risks and support mitigation strategies during the design phase.  Investigating and resolving issues related to system performance or functionality. Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and procedures.  Providing ongoing feedback for product/solution improvements based on project experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE: As a System Engineer at r2p, you’ll often juggle several projects at different stages - meaning no two days are the same. You might be finalizing documentation for one project, debugging a testbench for another, and aligning with a customer on a third - all in the same day. A day in the life of a System Engineer at r2p can be: Attend a stand-up meeting with the System Engineering department to align on current tasks and blockers using the Agile methodology. Align with the Project Manager on priorities.  Join a technical meeting with a customer to clarify system requirements. Analyze customer requirements. Update Technical documentation: wiring diagrams, mounting instructions, maintenance manual, test protocols, etc.. Run tests and debug issues. Configure a testbench. Provide remote support to a customer. Log feedback and identify potential improvements. Update task trackers (JIRA). Join a technical meeting with R&D to discuss technical functionalities. Perform pre-Factory Acceptant Tests (FAT). You are Customer-focused with strong communication skills - able to collaborate across teams and engage effectively with clients.  Technically curious and solution-oriented, with a hands-on approach.  Comfortable working independently or in a team under tight deadlines.  Flexible and open to travel for short-term assignments abroad.  Passionate about using new technologies and making an impact. What you Bring to the Table B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.  3 - 5 years of experience in system engineering or similar roles (desirable but not mandatory).  Solid understanding of electronic hardware and embedded systems.  Knowledge and skills in IP data networks setup and configuration.  Knowledge in audiovisual systems and associated streaming and control protocols (VoIP, SIP, RTSP) and video compression technologies (H.264).  Knowledge and skills in HMI systems and Linux operating systems are an added advantage.  Experience in the railway or transportation sector is advantageous.  Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written); French and German is a plus.  We know that great engineers come from all walks of life. Even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements, we want to hear from you - especially if you’re excited by our mission. Your Benefits At r2p, we’re proud to offer: A dynamic, international work environment where innovation thrives.  Flat hierarchies, open communication, and a strong team spirit.  Opportunities for personal and professional growth as we scale globally.  A culture that values sustainability, respect - and yes, humor.  Your work will directly impact how millions of people experience public transport. You’ll help shape smarter cities and safer journeys. We believe flexibility fuels innovation. You'll enjoy flexible hours and the opportunity to work in a way that suits your productivity best.  At r2p, your role doesn’t stop at delivery - you’ll grow as a systems thinker, innovator, and technical leader. We support your professional development with access to new tools, cross-functional projects, and international collaboration. We believe public transport should be efficient, sustainable, and exciting. Ready to shape the future of mobility? Apply now and let’s build something amazing - together. Interested?
