Description

The Postsecondary Advocate provides guidance and support to students in their transition to higher education and career pathways. This role facilitates events, ensures students are meeting program requirements, and maintains communication with stakeholders to support student success. Success in this position is measured by student engagement, academic progress, and career development. Daily attendance and punctuality are an important responsibility of all Immokalee Foundation employees and therefore considered an essential function for all positions. Events: Facilitate summer boot camp and winter workshops to teach students the importance of mental health, time management, and college transitions. Plan and execute meetings and events to enhance student engagement and learning. Communication: Establish rapport with all students in the postsecondary program sponsored by The Immokalee Foundation through semester updates. Assist students in identifying their educational, postsecondary, and career goals, helping them formulate written plans for future advancement in their career pathway. Provide support in resume writing, cover letters, LinkedIn profile building, and networking with potential employers. Maintain effective communication and provide high-quality customer service to students, mentors, staff, and community members. Collaboration: Work with Florida Prepaid and TSIC to ensure all scholarships are active, accounted for, and that appropriate reports are completed and submitted. Student Support: Monitor and track student grades, involvement, GPA, professional development, and workshop participation to ensure students meet program requirements and benchmarks. Identify at-risk students and provide necessary interventions. Leverage resources from affiliated organizations, school systems, and direct student interactions to support students at risk. Schedule intervention meetings with students who fall below program requirements to create success plans.
