You must have institutional knowledge of telecom construction (i.e. - electrical and working with cables and lines). Here is what the role looks like: As a Fiber Technician I , you will be the backbone of our network, installing, maintaining, and testing complex fiber optic systems for broadband, mobile, and digital services. You will work in diverse environments—from underground conduits to aerial lines and inside buildings—to ensure high-speed connectivity for our community. Other key responsibilities include: Installation & Deployment: Install fiber optic cables in underground conduits, on aerial poles, and inside buildings. Lay out cables according to engineering blueprints and project specifications. Perform overhead and underground cable troubleshooting and repairs. Climb poles and use ladders safely to inspect and repair lines (requires knowledge of fall protection and safety equipment). Splicing & Precision Work: Strip, align, and fuse fiber optic cables using fusion or mechanical splicers. Production Standard: Complete a minimum of 12 high-quality splices per hour (Single Mode fusion). Ensure all splices are strong, low-loss, and meet strict industry performance standards. Testing & Troubleshooting: Test connections using Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) and other diagnostic tools. Verify signal strength, clarity, and integrity. Quickly locate and resolve network issues to restore connectivity. Documentation & Safety: Maintain detailed records of splice locations, fiber counts, and test results. Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and operation heavy machinery. Promote the GTA culture of safety, accountability and professionalism in all interactions with customers. Other duties as assigned . Candidates must show: Ability to   promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, customers . Accountability: Punctual and dependable to meet the needs of our customers. Has the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced changing environment. Critical thinking and problem solving:  Has the ability to assess an issue, provide creative solutions, and analyze if the solution is viable. Organizational support : Ability to follow company policies and procedures, complete tasks thoroughly, accurately, and efficiently Technical skills: Constantly strives to increase technical knowledge to improve training tools through the latest product knowledge, industry knowledge, and research. Growth and Learning : Is curious and understands that learning is a lifelong endeavor. You own your learning and development, and you are committed to evolving. Here’s what you need to have: Minimum HS Diploma or GED equivalent. Must have basic reading, math, and computer skills Must have and maintain a current valid Guam Driver’s License Ability to follow all safety requirements Ability to understand, read, write and follow oral and written instructions Regular, punctual and consistent attendance; must be able to work any shift and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary to meet the needs and goals of the business. Must be able to identify and distinguish colors Must have a flexible schedule and quick response to entertain damages. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (extreme heat outsides, rain, cold) for a minimum of eight (8) hours or more per day. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds.
