You must have institutional knowledge of telecom construction (i.e. - electrical and working with cables and lines). If you are looking at providing exceptional customer experiences, enjoy building relationships, have an eagerness to learn and grow, you don’t hesitate to offer support, and you can have fun doing it, we want you on our team!</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(35, 111, 161); font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Here is what the role looks like:</span></span><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">As a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Fiber Technician I</span>, you will be the backbone of our network, installing, maintaining, and testing complex fiber optic systems for broadband, mobile, and digital services. You will work in diverse environments—from underground conduits to aerial lines and inside buildings—to ensure high-speed connectivity for our community. Other key responsibilities include:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Installation &amp; Deployment:</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Install fiber optic cables in underground conduits, on aerial poles, and inside buildings.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Lay out cables according to engineering blueprints and project specifications.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Perform overhead and underground cable troubleshooting and repairs.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Climb poles and use ladders safely to inspect and repair lines (requires knowledge of fall protection and safety equipment).</span><br><br></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Splicing &amp; Precision Work:</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Strip, align, and fuse fiber optic cables using fusion or mechanical splicers.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Production Standard: Complete a minimum of 12 high-quality splices per hour (Single Mode fusion).</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Ensure all splices are strong, low-loss, and meet strict industry performance standards.</span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Testing &amp; Troubleshooting:</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Test connections using Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) and other diagnostic tools.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Verify signal strength, clarity, and integrity.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Quickly locate and resolve network issues to restore connectivity.</span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Documentation &amp; Safety:</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Maintain detailed records of splice locations, fiber counts, and test results.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials and operation heavy machinery.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Promote the GTA culture of safety, accountability and professionalism in all interactions with customers.</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Other duties as assigned</span>.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(35, 111, 161)\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Candidates must show:</span></span></span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span>Ability to</span> <span style=\"color: rgb(35, 111, 161); font-weight: bold\">promote the Company culture</span> <span>and mission to all employees, vendors, customers</span>. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(35, 111, 161); font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Accountability: </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Punctual and dependable to meet the needs of our customers.
