The hospital is among only 7 percent of hospitals who have earned the distinction of Magnet status.  LeBonheur Children’s Hospital is designated as a Level 1 pediatric trauma center by the American College of Surgeons, and is the only Level 2 pediatric trauma center in the region. Come join a team committed to provider growth and continuing innovation in anesthesia!</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include any and/or all of the following:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>The MDA must function as a collaborator and team member to accomplish applicable goals and functions of the organization.</li>\n <li>Attend Medical Staff meetings and Department and Hospital Administrative meetings relating to the operation of the Department.</li>\n <li>Participate in administrative decision making and recommend and approve policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Provide information to Hospital regarding budgetary, administrative and patient care matters related to the Department.</li>\n <li>The MDA must act as a liaison between hospital physicians, CRNAs, staff, vendors, funding sources, and other system departments or services as needed.</li>\n <li>Oversee the performance of the Department, including but not limited to those contractually obligated performance based measures.</li>\n <li>Establish criteria for adequate staffing as applicable.</li>\n <li>Participate in the Hospital’s quality assurance efforts as requested by the Hospital.</li>\n <li>Develop standards for continuity of care and case management.</li>\n <li>Remain cognizant of rules and regulation as they pertain to the American Society of Anesthesiologists and remain compliant at a local, state, and federal level.</li>\n <li>Deliver, monthly, a departmental status report illustrating key performance indicators pertinent to anesthesia and surgical patient throughput.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>CLINICAL DUTIES</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ensure the availability of adequate anesthesia staffing to provide clinical, medical, and administrative leadership support throughout the organization.</li>\n <li>Administer anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures.</li>\n <li>Inform students and staff of types and methods of anesthesia administration, signs of complications, and emergency methods to counteract reactions.</li>\n <li>Provide medical care and consultation in many settings, prescribing medication and treatment.</li>\n <li>Provides clinical support and patient care to assist the anesthesia team as applicable.</li>\n <li>Maintain current policies and procedures set forth by LifeLinc and propose new and efficient policies when applicable.</li>\n <li>Perform clinical reviews and audits on all clinical services provided by other practitioners employed by LifeLinc as applicable.</li>\n <li>Responsible for training and oversight of all clinical staff and personnel as applicable.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>COMMUNICATION</strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Confer and consult with Hospital administration from time to time regarding the organization and management of the Department in order to enhance its public service capabilities, efficiency and quality of medical care.</li>\n <li>Maintain dedicated administrative office hours and be available by e-mail and telephone when not at the Hospital.</li>\n <li>Works with peers to obtain required information on a timely basis and to solve outstanding issues, as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Promotes and contributes positively to the teamwork of the department by assisting coworkers, contributing ideas and problem-solving with co-workers.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>LANGUAGE SKILLS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to read and write English.</li>\n <li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.</li>\n <li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.</li>\n <li>Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, patients, patient's family and other employees of organization.</li>\n <li>Able to work in a team-oriented environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>REASONING ABILITY</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
