We are seeking a Senior Manager, Asset Management, within the Restaurant Development Department. This national role is based in Toronto and reports to the Director, Asset Management. The successful candidate will support Asset Management and Property Management activities across Canada, with accountability for execution against portfolio objectives, optimization of real estate assets, and delivery of key projects and initiatives. The role manages a team of Asset Managers and Property Managers while maintaining direct responsibility for strategic portfolio work, including lease renewals, property expropriations, and asset acquisitions. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders across Development, Reinvestment, Legal, Finance, and Owner/Operator teams, as well as management of external relationships with landlords, municipalities, and consultants to resolve complex issues and enhance portfolio value. Duties In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to: • Lead a national team of Asset Managers and Property Managers, driving performance, setting priorities, and ensuring delivery of Asset Management and Property Management activities; support the Director on strategic priorities and escalations. • Optimize the real estate portfolio through lease renewals, management of owned assets (including tenant and excess properties), and targeted acquisition opportunities. • Oversee complex property, leasing, and operational matters, including landlord approvals, operating cost disputes, and critical lease issues impacting restaurant operations. • Execute portfolio strategies and key initiatives, including reinvestment programs and the disposition or leasing of excess assets, to enhance asset value and returns. • Support the Director on litigation, arbitrations, and other escalated portfolio matters, and lead expropriation activities in partnership with internal and external Legal stakeholders to maximize compensation and protect long-term rights. • Deliver accurate and timely reporting (monthly, quarterly) across workstreams to support performance tracking and decision-making. Commitment to Lead: Manage and lead the following teams: Property Managers (3) responsible for portfolio-level property management activities. Asset Managers (5) responsible for managing and optimizing assigned real estate portfolios. Qualifications Experience and Business Leadership: 10 years in commercial leasing, asset management, and property management experience Proven experience managing a corporate real estate portfolio and applying real estate and development principles to drive results. Strong knowledge of real estate law, contracts, and negotiations, combined with strong commercial acumen and strategic judgement Communication and Relationship Leadership: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with strong negotiation capabilities. Ability to build and influence relationships with senior leaders, Owner Operators, and external partners. Problem Solving and Decision Making: Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to assess complex issues, identify solutions, and escalate appropriately. Project and Results Leadership: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive project execution and process improvements. Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Smartsheet. Agility and Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment and adapt quickly to change. Salary Range The expected salary range for this role is $111,999 - $159,998 per year The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
