    "description": "<h2>Department Overview</h2>\n<p>The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 20 bed high-acuity, fast-paced environment dedicated to the care of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. Our multidisciplinary team provides 24/7 comprehensive care for patients with life-threatening conditions, including respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, and complex congenital or acquired illnesses.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We have our own Pediatric and Neonatal Transport team. The DCH PANDA (<strong>P</strong>ediatric <strong>A</strong>nd <strong>N</strong>eonatal <strong>D</strong>oernbecher <strong>A</strong>mbulance) Team transports critically ill children by ambulance, helicopter, or fixed wing aircraft from hospitals all across the Pacific Northwest to Doernbecher Children's Hospital located in Portland, OR.  PANDA is the largest and longest running pediatric and neonatal intensive care transport program in Oregon.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Work Environment: Primary hours are evening hours M-F with 24/7 coverage as needed. Grow with us.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Read more about Doernbecher Children’s Hospital here: https://www.ohsu.edu/doernbecher</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a registered nurse (RN) who is responsible for upholding excellence in the provision of nursing care through the implementation of the Profession Practice Model. The ANM, in association with the Nurse Manager, is responsible for the managerial and leadership functions within a patient environment. The ANM functions primarily on evening and nightshift hours to provide operational oversight, consistency and continuity. The ANM partners with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards, and administrative and clinical policies and procedures. The ANM performs managerial activities, and demonstrates effective leadership behaviors including performing evaluations, employee mentoring, coaching, and performance management. The ANM implements quality and safety initiatives, engages in process improvement, ensures adherence to bargaining unit agreements and human resource management. The ANM creates and sustains a patient care environment that supports a safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, productive, and engaged staff. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The ANM’s decisions and actions are based on ethical principles as outlined by the American Nurses Association. The ANM practices in adherence with the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurse Administrators, the ANA Code of Ethics, then Oregon State Board Nurse Practice Act, and within the context of the Nurse Executive Competencies developed by the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). The ANM exemplifies the principles of the OHSU Culture of Safety Position Statement by committing to a Just Culture, a Reporting Culture, a Learning Culture, and an Engaged Informed Culture.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Responsible for operational, quality, human resources, financial, strategic and clinical management of the Emergency Surgery and Trauma Nursing Units under the direction of the Emergency Surgery and Trauma Units Nurse Manager.Works cooperatively and supportively with all staff and interdisciplinary team members to provide patient satisfaction, and high quality, safe care of patients.Maintains clinical competency in acute care nursing to provide occasional nursing responsibilities to support daily operations. Participates in projects and improvement initiatives in alignment with the OHSU Tier one priorities and Strategic Plan</p>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.</li>\n <li>Two (2) years of relevant clinical nursing experience in a related specialty, including demonstrated leadership responsibilities required. (e.g., charge nurse, preceptor, supervisor, or equivalent).</li>\n <li>Unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license (or ability to obtain prior to hire).</li>\n <li>BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation</li>\n <li>Additional clinical certifications (e.g., ACLS, NRP) may be required by assignment.</li>\n <li>Leadership/specialty certification (e.g., NE-BC, CNML, or clinical specialty) within two (2) years of hire</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Comprehensive health care plans.
