Description

Overview i3 is seeking a Structures Engineer to join our team and support a critical government program office by providing technical oversight of OEM structural testing activities and ensuring the integrity, compliance, and airworthiness of advanced aerospace systems. Responsibilities As a Structures Engineer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to: Provide technical oversight and evaluation of OEM structural test plans, procedures, and schedules to ensure compliance with government requirements Analyze structural test data and independently assess results, preparing briefings, reports, and risk assessments for program leadership Collaborate with government engineers, OEMs, and cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to resolve technical challenges and ensure program alignment Develop and review technical documentation including test evaluations, system procedures, and engineering assessments Support structural testing activities by witnessing static, dynamic, and fatigue tests and ensuring adherence to approved methodologies Engage with stakeholders and leadership through technical working groups, providing subject matter expertise and guidance on structural systems Identify technical risks related to airframe structures and develop mitigation strategies to support program execution and airworthiness certification Support program execution through planning, coordination, and Earned Value Management (EVM) responsibilities as a control account manager Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree. 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace structural engineering or related field. Experience supporting structural analysis, test evaluation, and airworthiness or certification activities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working in DoD, federal, or aerospace engineering environments. U.S. Citizenship. Secret clearance required. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting DoD or Federal programs, particularly Army or aviation programs. Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and structural analysis methods. Experience working with cross-functional teams, OEMs, and government stakeholders. Strong technical documentation, briefing, and reporting experience. Familiarity with systems engineering, airworthiness certification, and structural test methodologies. Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field; experience with MBSE tools (e.g., 3DX) preferred. Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of office administration and procedures. Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills. Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully. Interact with a diverse array of customers and staff in a professional and courteous manner. Work independently with accountability for accurate and complete results. Be extremely organized and exceptionally detail oriented. Work well both independently and in a team environment. Be energized by a fast-paced work environment. Must be able to communicate with others effectively. Analyze information and respond appropriately. Manage time wisely and prioritize tasks. Provide superior customer service. Multi-task in a pleasant manner. Work well under pressure. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
