    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Aircraft Mechanic I (General) Qualifications </span></p>\n<p>All the qualifications listed below are required for this position:</p>\n<ul>\n<li><br>Four (4) years of documented experience performing aircraft maintenance on DHS/DoD aircraft platforms, or the following will be considered:</li>\n<li><br>A&amp;P License with four (4) years of documented experience performing aircraft maintenance on fixed or rotary wing aircraft.</li>\n<li><br>High school diploma or equivalent (unless higher education is required for a particular job category).</li>\n<li><br>Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.</li>\n<li><br>Shall be a citizen of the U.S.</li>\n<li><br>Possess computer skills to include basic knowledge sufficient to complete internet searches and prepare/edit documents utilizing word processing or spreadsheet applications.</li>\n<li><br>Shall be capable of performing tasks that frequently require lifting, reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods of time (applies to all industrial areas and aircraft touch labor categories).</li>\n<li><br>Shall be capable of performing tasks in cramped, awkward, and strained positions and/or climbing up and down ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, and aircraft structures (applies to all industrial areas and aircraft touch labor categories).</li>\n<li><br>Shall be capable of carrying items up to 40 pounds and on heavier items shall seek assistance of other workers or weightlifting devices (applies to all industrial areas and aircraft touch labor categories).</li>\n<li><br>Shall be capable of using cumbersome Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) operations (applies to all industrial areas and aircraft touch labor categories).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Aircraft Mechanic I (General) Tasks</span></p>\n<p>The Aircraft Mechanic I (General, Electrical, Avionics, and Sheet Metal) duties shall include, but are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li><br>Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure airworthiness.</li>\n<li><br>Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls, anti-icing, pneumatics, hydraulics, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.</li>\n<li><br>Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.</li>\n<li><br>Read and interpret manufacturers and airline’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.</li>\n<li><br>Perform progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.</li>\n<li><br>Examine the propeller system for delaminated, damaged, chipped, or worn propeller blades. Also inspect the propeller gearbox for any abnormalities IAW the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) maintenance manual such as lubrication leaks, general wear and tear, chaffing lubrication line, electrical harnesses, and other components associated with the engine.</li>\n<li><br>Inspect jet engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.</li>\n<li><br>Inspect jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks.</li>\n<li><br>Test engine operation, using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction.</li>\n<li><br>Replace or repair worn or damaged components, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.</li>\n<li><br>Remove engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck.</li>\n<li><br>Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, cracks, and airworthiness.</li>\n<li><br>Repair or replace defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.</li>\n<li><br>Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.</li>\n<li><br>Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.</li>\n<li><br>Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.</li>\n<li><br>Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft.</li>\n<li><br>Enter in the maintenance record description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.</li>\n<li><br>May service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.</li>\n<li><br>May specialize in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.</li>\n<li><br>Provide technical direction to Aircraft Mechanic Helpers and Aircraft Workers.</li>\n<li><br>Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.</li>\n<li><br>Maintain high state of cleanliness and utilize a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties.</li>\n<li><br>Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs.</li>\n<li><br>Maintain situational awareness and mitigate risks.</li>\n<li><br>Comply with processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense (DoD) documents and publications.</li>\n<li><br>Maintain and control tools. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the on-site supervisor immediately upon discovery.
