    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Fall 2025 Term</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">ABC House is looking for a Family Advocate Intern to join our Assessment team. This internship is in-person and will last for the duration of your university's internship program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and is enrolled in an undergraduate program in a field related to social work.  Our internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain experience working with children and families through a trauma lens and a direct application of advocacy services. The goal of advocacy services is to minimize trauma from the assessment process on both the child and family and help ensure that their service needs are met. In addition, the intern will work with a team of professionals including child abuse medical providers, forensic interviewers, advocates, Oregon Department of Human Services, and law enforcement. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Principal duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:</span><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Provide on-site family support and referral services for clients and their family members</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Prepare intake paperwork and resource material for client and caregivers.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Orient family on appointment process and assist in completion of paperwork, including Crimes Victims' Compensation application. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Provide support to family during the appointment, including identifying needs and making service referrals as needed.</span><br><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist with data tracking and other clerical/administrative duties.</span><br><br><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Provide outreach and follow-up support services to clients and their families.</span><br><br><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Qualifications and skills required:</span><br></span></span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Enrolled in undergraduate degree program in Human Services or a field related to human services.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a warm and approachable demeanor.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Ability to build rapport with children and adults potentially impacted by trauma. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and database programs.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Licensed, insured driver with access to reliable transportation.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and child abuse registry check.<br><br><span style=\"font-size: 14px\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Benefits of this internship:</span></span></span></span><br>- Direct experience working with children and their families potentially impacted by trauma.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Direct experience working with children and their families experiencing a wide range of socioeconomic factors.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Opportunities to observe the multi-disciplinary team collaborate and work through a child abuse investigation, including observing of child forensic interviews and other services areas as opportunities arise.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Learn about the local community resources that serve all different populations of people. <br><br>ABC House is an equal opportunity employer committed to respectful, quality of care to children and their non offending family members from diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and non-traditional family forms. <br><br>ABC House is a drug-free workplace.<br><br>Under the provisions of the Immigration Reform Act of 1986, the candidate will be required to provide evidence of identity and eligibility for employment.</span></span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>",
