Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the oversight of assigned shift safety, uptime, quality, waste, rate, and cost performance of the asset. Responsible for leading and directing people to perform assigned job duties, adhere to basic expectations, and rigorous execution of JSAs, SOPS, 6S, and systems. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provide clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk. Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks. Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.) Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible. Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals. Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Ensure compliance to all safety policies and procedures. Lead, counsel, train and develop team members as appropriate. Initiate and deliver any required disciplinary actions for team members. Conduct periodic performance reviews for team members. Actively participate in team member employment decisions including hiring, promotions and terminations. Track and manage attendance data for team members. Responsible for individual and team compliance with applicable laws and company policies. Establish and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, quality, high performance and process excellence. Establish team and individual accountabilities for problem solving and cost reduction. Perform 6S, safety, process, and quality audits. Address any identified gaps and ensure resolution. Provide coaching and feedback to team members Responsible for the accurate reporting of asset quality, productivity and other required metrics. Ensure employees are following JSAs and confronts any unsafe acts observed Resolve conflicts among team members and refer issues to higher authority when needed. Positively communicate changes in business situations, production schedules, and company policies. Monitor quality and make recommendations on when to stop production based on material being out of specification in conjunction with the Process Tech and Sr. Team Leader. Analyze and investigate process and equipment changes. Troubleshoot machine issues, determine root cause and implement corrective actions Coordinate and assist with installation of new equipment Assist with start-up, changeover and shutdown of machines, as necessary. Understand and fully utilize all ISO procedures, control charts, histograms, CpK, and other SPC tools and measurements; recommend improvements based on statistical data and observation. Assist in investigating and resolving quality complaints Maintain updated Quality Procedures and communicate those changes with operators, team leaders and supervisors Generate and maintain operating procedures, work instructions and SOC’s for Train assigned employees in operating procedures, work instructions and SOC’s. Coordinate with training coordinator for additional training needs for assigned area Sets goals for assigned area and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals. Implement and maintain correct KPI status and production information on all product lines. Attend downtime meetings, schedule meetings, safety meetings, asset meetings, safety reviews and down day planning meetings. Conduct and manage Shift Handover Meetings, Natural Work Team meetings and other required team meetings. Responsible for the accurate completion of all paperwork including but not limited to production and downtime reports and incident reports Prepare or participate in safety and incident reporting when appropriate. Actively participate in root cause analysis sessions, Kaizen events and other improvement strategies. Assist operators and coordinate trouble-shooting activities. Serve as a resource to Production Tech and Plant Leadership in resolving customer complaints. Responsible for fulfilling the tasks as outlined in the daily task lists. Required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team with training required in the following: Emergency Response First Aid/CPR/BBP Fire Extinguisher Other duties as assigned. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma required. Bachelor Degree strongly preferred At least 5 (five) years of manufacturing and/or operational experience; Non-woven/Sheet/Web manufacturing or conversion preferred. Three plus years supervisory or leadership experience Detailed knowledge of the company and product technologies, data analysis skills, broad understanding of related technologies. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard office machines and computer software including Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint. Knowledge of standard accepted troubleshooting, repair, reliability and effective planning & labor utilization strategies. Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA and EPA laws, standards and regulations governing manufacturing sites (29 CFR 1910). Working knowledge of manufacturing industry (non-woven or textile-related preferred). Business understanding and teambuilding skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. General understanding of basic physics, engineering, chemistry, math. OSHA 10 Hour Course desired COMPETENCIES: DO NOT CHANGE Coaching - Able to guide employees in their development and help them assume their responsibilities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demands: Employee must have 20/20 vision corrected in both eyes, to discern various color graphics and color matches. Employee must be able to work rotating 12 hour shifts. Employee must be able to lift up to 35 pounds. Required to frequently ascend and descend up to three flights of stairs over extremely fast moving machinery Required to safely access fast moving machinery which includes rolls with inward nip points. Work Environment : Area may or may not be air conditioned or heated, and may be humid and hot or cold depending on seasonal conditions. Exposure to hot and/or abrasive surfaces. Required to be in tight spaces on occasion and to heights daily. Possible exposure to noise levels over 90 decibels for 12 hours at certain locations. Moving machinery or moving objects on production floor. Floor surfaces slippery at times. Exposure to chemicals which may cause eye or skin irritation and/or burns, and irritation to respiratory system. Exposure to static electricity on occasion. Exposure to and use of sharp implements at times. Exposure to outside elements on occasion. Mental Abilities Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. Ability to read charts and document numbers and events on paper and in computer.
