Description
Reports to: Operations Manager
Job Purpose :
The Prevention Team Lead is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and delivery of culturally grounded prevention programs that support the health and well-being of Cold Lake First Nations families and community members living in and around the Edmonton Area. This role provides leadership to a team of prevention workers and works collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to ensure services are responsive, inclusive, and aligned with community values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, development, and implementation of culturally appropriate prevention programs
Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver holistic prevention initiatives
Develop annual work plans and program calendars based on community needs
Supervise and support a team of prevention workers
Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluations
Foster a culturally safe and trauma-informed work environment
Community Engagement
Build strong relationships with community members, Elders, youth, and families
Facilitate outreach and engagement sessions to inform program development
Promote awareness of prevention services through events and workshops
Participate in joint case management with other service providers
Identify service gaps and advocate for additional support
Maintain accurate records, statistics, and reports for internal and funding purposes
Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements
Assist in budget planning and funding proposals
Ensure compliance with policies, funding agreements, and legislation
Representing FCSS in interagency meetings and community events
Responsible for developing the annual work and associated budget for community prevention and early intervention supports
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Know l edge, Skills and Abilities Required :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a relevant role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable
Comprehensive knowledge of the Child, Youth, & Family Enhancement Act of Alberta (CYFEA) and other relevant Alberta legislation.
Demonstrated experience with program development, implementation, and
Strong understanding of Indigenous cultural protocols, traditions, and the history of Cold Lake First
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a
Experience with budget management and grant writing is an
Strong organizational and time management
Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements :
Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 2:00pm. Working hours can vary and/or flexible depending on type of assignment or work plan
Work is primarily performed in an office setting but requires frequent travel within the Edmonton area and to community
Regular evening and weekend work may be required to attend meetings, events, and community engagement sessions.
