Description
Overview
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.
With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Together, our fully integrated research and clinical care teams seek to discover new cures to the world’s deadliest diseases and make life beyond cancer a reality.
At Fred Hutch we value collaboration, compassion, determination, excellence, innovation, integrity and respect. Our mission is directly tied to the humanity, dignity and inherent value of each employee, patient, community member and supporter. Our commitment to learning across our differences and similarities make us stronger. We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems.
A Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position is immediately available in the Hsieh Lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The core focus of the Hsieh Lab is to interrogate the mechanisms by which post-transcriptional gene regulation governs cancer cell behavior at a molecular, cellular, and organismal level (Hsieh et al. Nature 2012, Schuster and Hsieh Trends in Cancer 2019, Liu et al. Science Translational Medicine 2019, Lim et al. Nature Comms 2021, Jana et al. Cancer cell 2023). The laboratory places a high emphasis of novel discoveries and academic development.
Responsibilities
For this position, the applicant will utilize murine and human genetics, whole transcriptome ribosome profiling, MSR-seq, functional genomics, RNA labeling/sequencing techniques, TMT mass spectrometry, various cellular and molecular assays, and a one-of-a-kind biorepository of primary and metastatic human prostate and bladder cancer samples to understand how the translation apparatus controls normal physiology and promotes cancer phenotypes.
Fred Hutch has more than 200 postdoctoral fellows working in labs across all five research divisions. We provide postdocs with the opportunity to work on the cutting edge of biomedical research in a supportive, collaborative environment with faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping their trainees achieve their career goals. In addition, both the Student/Postdoc Advisory Committee and the Office of Scientific Career Development offer diverse mentoring and career development opportunities.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for exceptional candidates with a recent PhD and/or MD, a record of productive research, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A strong background in murine work, high throughput methods, RNA biology, and/or computational biology are highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Please include a CV and a brief cover letter describing your research interests and career goals.
The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $95,014, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
