Location: Atlas Public Schools, St. Louis, MO Reports To: Head of Student Support Services Start Date: TBD Travel: May require travel between Atlas campuses as needed Position Overview The School School Psychologist plays a critical role in ensuring Atlas students receive high-quality, timely, and culturally responsive evaluations and supports. This role is responsible for conducting psychoeducational assessments, supporting special education eligibility determinations, and partnering with educators and families to design effective instructional and behavioral supports. Working collaboratively with the Student Services team, school leaders, teachers, and families, the School Psychological Examiner / School Psychologist promotes student academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and overall well-being through data-driven, legally compliant, and student-centered practices. Key Responsibilities Psychoeducational Evaluation and Assessment Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations across cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains. Select, administer, score, and interpret a range of standardized and non-standardized assessment tools in a timely manner. Ensure evaluations are culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate, and compliant with IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and state regulations. Determine eligibility for special education services and contribute to clear, defensible eligibility decisions. Reporting and Documentation Write high-quality, comprehensive evaluation reports that clearly communicate findings, eligibility determinations, and instructional implications. Maintain accurate, organized, and compliant student records and assessment files. Adhere to all state and federal timelines and Atlas documentation expectations. IEP and Problem-Solving Team Participation Participate actively in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, reevaluations, and problem-solving or MTSS meetings. Clearly explain assessment data and recommendations to families, teachers, and school staff. Collaborate with teams to develop appropriate goals, accommodations, and services aligned to student needs. Consultation and Intervention Support Consult with teachers, special educators, administrators, and related service providers on instructional strategies, behavioral supports, and intervention planning. Support implementation of evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions prior to an evaluation. Assist teams in interpreting data as well as adjusting supports based on student progress, and making recommendations for referrals to special education. Compliance and Professional Practice Maintain current knowledge of special education law, ethical standards, and best practices. Support school-wide compliance efforts related to evaluation and eligibility processes. Follow Atlas policies and professional ethical standards, including recognizing professional limits and making referrals when appropriate. Professional Learning and Capacity Building Contribute to professional development for staff related to assessment, behavior, and social-emotional learning, as needed. Stay current with research, assessment tools, and emerging best practices in school psychology, including engaging in mentorship and ongoing professional learning. Apply new learning—both independently and through mentorship—to continuously strengthen services, systems, and student outcomes. Required Qualifications Valid Missouri certification as a School Psychologist. Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, School Psychology, Education, Counseling, or a related field. Demonstrated experience administering and interpreting psychoeducational assessments. Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and special education compliance requirements. Ability to communicate complex psychological information clearly in written and verbal form. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced school environment. Commitment to educational equity and serving students and families in the city of St. Louis. Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree in School Psychology or a related field. Experience working in charter schools or urban school settings. Experience with MTSS, RTI, or problem-solving team models. Experience supporting school-wide behavior or SEL initiatives.
