Description Summary The Adoption/Family Resource Worker is expected to complete thorough adoption assessments or family resource assessments to assess the appropriateness of the goal of adoption of a child or families’ appropriateness to adopt. (eligible languages include: Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish or ASL) Child & Family Services carefully considers a wide range of factors when determining compensation including, but not limited to, prior experience, education, certification(s), license(s), skills and expertise, location, internal equity and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need. Our goal is to support, reward and compensate the entire individual. Depending on role eligibility, your offer may include a bonus or other incentives. Therefore, final offer amounts may vary from the amount stated. Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions Complete a thorough assessment of children referred for adoption which will include the child’s strengths, weaknesses, services needed, appropriateness of adoption plan, and projected time frame for placement Complete a thorough family resource assessment for prospective adoptive parents which will include family background, personal history, significant relationships, support network, parenting experience, attitudes toward birthparents, motivation and fertility issues and recommendations for appropriateness of family Maintain cases records in accordance with agency and EEC, and DCF regulations Single service assessments and/or family resource assessments will be assigned on an as needed basis May be required to cover families or children during periods of transition which can include providing transportation and case management responsibilities Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed to include occasional weekend and/or evening work Become a certified MAPP trainer Maintain regular and timely attendance Possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Maintain a high quality of work that meets the guidelines and policies of the program Maintain a positive working relationship with agency staff, supervisors, and community contacts Maintain a high level of professionalism Participate in independent education and training opportunities Participate in team meetings Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Travel Required Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation that meets CFS Driver Policy. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Completed Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Master’s degree is preferred but not required. A minimum of one to two years of case management or DCF experience highly preferred.
