Position Summary This position will supervise MiFamily Together (MFT) program staff which provides flexible services that meet families where they are. MFT fosters meaningful engagement and provides tailored support to help families thrive at any level of need. The supervisor will be responsible for staffing and overall supervision of the program. This position will serve Kalamazoo county. Michigan’s Children’s Service Administration believes that children should live with their families whenever possible, and MFT will support the department’s goal to reduce the number of children who experience out-of-home care and the associated trauma of being removed from their family. MFT seeks to support the safety and wellbeing of these families such that risk to the child(ren) is reduced. Salary: Up to $58,905.00 annually based on relevant supervisory work experience. About Catholic Charities West Michigan Catholic Charities West Michigan (CCWM) is a community-based agency providing programs in Western Michigan and offering a variety of services in family preservation, behavioral health, child welfare, and community outreach. CCWM encourages persons of diverse backgrounds and faiths to apply for employment. Essentials Duties and Responsibilities Provides services in accordance with the MFT contract requirements. Accepts program referrals. Provides backup for staff. Oversees program operations related to the family’s enrollment and participation in the program. Conducts weekly individual supervision with each MFT Advocate. Facilitates bi-weekly team meetings. Must observe staff interactions with families and provide feedback to staff for continued skill development in Motivational Interviewing. Provides direct supervision and oversite to Parent Partners at least weekly. Orients and train new MFT Advocates and Parent Partners. Builds a cohesive team and maintain positive staff morale and staff retention. Manages staff work schedules to ensure adequate back-up coverage and 24/7 availability. Monitors to assure the use of required forms and completion of case documentation and follow-up visits. Reviews and approves, by signature and date, all prevention plans. Attends online Supervisor Community of Practice Meetings occurring bi-monthly. Conduct continuous quality improvement activities. Interviews and recommends individuals for hire. Ensures staff receive orientation, required program training and other relevant training. Monitors staff’s caseloads and ensure staff utilize techniques to reduce burn out and fatigue. Maintains regular contact with referral sources to encourage referrals and coordinate services. Ensures data is prepared for internal or external reporting and program billing. Assists in the development of annual budget and monitor program adherence to the budget. Participates in internal agency, supervisory meetings and other meetings as required. Attends court hearings to support staff and ensure the program model is upheld. Drives for agency business. Performs other special assignments at the supervisor’s request. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this position, the staff member is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The staff member is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The staff member, on occasion, may be asked to move or lift items up to 40 pounds in weight. Work Environment: This position is primarily office based, however, on occasion may require travel to other Agency offices as required by position responsibilities and/or agency management. This position will be routinely exposed to typical office noise levels and/or exposure to various weather conditions. The qualifications listed above are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties of the job. Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Two-Generation (2Gen) philosophy and Motivational Interviewing. Knowledge of child welfare policies and programs. Knowledge in substance abuse and mental health disorders. Ability to engage and relate to multi-problem families. Ability to maintain a non-judgmental positive attitude toward families in crisis. Ability to empower families to help them solve their problems. Ability to work in partnership with other team members and/or service providers. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the Agency’s service population. Ability to identify and provide appropriate services to families and children 0-18. Ability to recognize and address staff burn out issues, transference, counter transference and compassion fatigue issues. Skills in crisis intervention, assessment of potentially violent situations and short- term goal setting. Knowledge of and availability of local resources. Ability to oversee MFT program operations related to the family’s entry into and participation in the program. Ability to collaborate with local MDHHS staff, the court, and other service providers on behalf of the family. This position requires reliable transportation. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record with zero work restrictions. Must have personal auto insurance as required by law with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of $250,000 per person/$500,000 per incident or $500,000 combined. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on needs of the clients served. This may include working irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends. Must submit to agency approved background checks. Recommended Employment Qualifications Education: A bachelor’s degree in any human services or education field is required. Experience: A minimum of 1 year of prior work experience working with families and children is preferred. A minimum of 1 year of prior supervisory work experience is preferred. Professional Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: none required. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does have supervisory responsibilities.
