Early Years Coordinator Location: #200 12308 111 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta Closing Date: Until Suitable Candidate is Found Position Status: One (1) Full-time (40 hours/week) Permanent Position Reporting to the Family Supports Supervisor, the Early Years Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering culturally grounded programming that supports children and caregivers across all stages of early development. This role focuses on building caregiver knowledge, confidence, and connection through innovative, community-informed initiatives, including province-wide playgroups and early years programming. The coordinator fosters strong relationships with Métis caregivers and partners while creating opportunities for peer connection and shared learning. Working collaboratively with internal teams, the role ensures programs are accessible, responsive, and continuously improved to strengthen identity, belonging, and community connection from birth onward. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, coordinate, and deliver culturally grounded programming for the early stages of development and caregivers, including province-wide playgroups and early years focused initiatives. Develop and contribute new program concepts and resources that build caregiver knowledge, confidence, and skills. Coordinate opportunities that connect caregivers with one another to strengthen peer support networks across communities. Develop and deliver culturally grounded programming that supports children and caregivers across all stages of early development, fostering a strong sense of identity, belonging, and connection to community from birth onward. Work collaboratively with other coordinators and team members to co-deliver programs and support consistent implementation. Manage program timelines, schedules, and deliverables to ensure efficient and responsive delivery. Monitor participation, outcomes, and caregiver feedback, supporting continuous improvement and program refinement. Identify opportunities to enhance and expand Family Supports programming through innovation and community-informed approaches. Build and maintain positive relationships with Métis caregivers, communities, and internal and external partners. Collaborate with the CFS Communications team to support program-specific communications, outreach, and resources. Support logistical planning, materials coordination, and budget tracking for Family Supports initiatives. Ensure programs and activities meet safety, accessibility, and quality standards. Provide regular updates, documentation, and recommendations to the Family Supports Supervisor or Manager. Perform other related duties as required. Skills & Competencies Knowledge and understanding of Métis culture, values, history, and contemporary community contexts. Strong program coordination and facilitation skills, with the ability to design, deliver, and support Family Supports initiatives. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing ideas, supporting co-workers, and sharing responsibility for program delivery. Experience developing and coordinating programs, resources, or initiatives from concept through implementation and evaluation. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to clear program documentation, reports, and resource materials. Culturally responsive, compassionate, and respectful approach when working with Métis families, communities, and colleagues. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams and external community partners. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities. Qualifications Post-secondary degree in early learning, Human or Social Services, or related field is preferred; however, equivalent experiences will be considered. Two - three years’ experience in a similar role is an asset. Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset. Other Requirements Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required. Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Must be willing to travel within Alberta and work irregular hours, on occasion, to meet program needs Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. A current Criminal Record Check is required, in addition to a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check.
