Bay Correctional Facility in Panama City, FL., is now hiring educators to assist with making a difference in the lives of those on the inside.</p>\n<p><strong>Position summary: </strong>The horticulture instructor is responsible for providing instruction to inmates in accordance with approved curricula. &nbsp;She/he provides inmates with basic direction in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management &amp; Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.</p>\n<p><strong>Essential responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<p>*Deliver individualized competency-based instruction through classroom and laboratory management in the occupational program areas taught to inmates.<br>\n *Develop performance objectives and criterion-referenced tests in accordance with established program content.<br>\n *Review, select and adapt instructional materials to help individuals reach mastery of the competencies required for entry, advancement and upgrading occupations.<br>\n *Plan activities to efficiently initiate budget requests to assure that all equipment, supplies, and materials are available to support a progressive training schedule.<br>\n *Monitor motivation, discipline, and learning difficulties to bring about positive changes in the behavior of inmates.<br>\n *Evaluate and maintain records of the inmate’s progress toward completion of pre-established performance objectives.<br>\n *Execute all applicable forms to adhere to facility procedures.<br>\n *Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.<br>\n *Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.</p>\n<p>It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.</p>\n<p><br><strong>Education and experience requirements:</strong></p>\n<p>A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.<br>\n A valid teaching certificate from the Florida Department of Education or a comparable authority is necessary.<br>\n Must have horticulture experience and/or education in related area.<br>\n Knowledge in areas of hydroponics, seed germination, etc. is helpful.<br>\n Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience is preferred.<br>\n A valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.</p>\n<p><br><strong>Why: </strong>Work where you can have the greatest impact!</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Management &amp; Training Corporation (MTC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
