Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. We integrate academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students to thrive in a culturally connected and changing world. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade.

The Opportunity
Under the supervision of School Leadership, the Intervention Instructor has the opportunity to use innovative curriculum and teaching methodologies to establish a culture of educational excellence through great professional development opportunities and team teaching. Teacher must be a visionary, eager to be in the forefront of educational practices, and must embrace the challenge of demonstrating that public education in a low-income, primarily immigrant, multilingual area can succeed.
Essential Functions
Prepare and implement lesson plans that lead to student support and mastery of curriculum content in the least restrictive environment
Adapt classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans
Administer developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc., for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
Regularly assess and analyze student progress toward academic goals
Participate regularly in professional development opportunities
Co-plan lessons and Co-teach with general education teachers
Communicate frequently with students, students’ families, colleagues and other stakeholders
Maintain regular, punctual attendance
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
California Teaching Credential Single Subject Teaching Credential in English
Demonstrated ability to implement varied classroom instructional strategies
Educational vision for and experience with low-income and /or minority students
Demonstrated track record with English language learners
Commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of students
Passion for working with children and their families
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Experience with computer adaptive learning and basic technological skills is a plus!
