About Camp Togowoods At Camp Togowoods, campers build confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships while experiencing the outdoors in a safe and supportive community. Campers enjoy arts and crafts, nature hikes, environmental education, swimming, canoeing or kayaking, outdoor cooking, and a variety of engaging camp activities. Campers stay in platform tents with wooden floors, cots, and mosquito netting, creating an immersive outdoor experience with the support of counselors nearby. Campers entering 1st–5th grade can participate in day camp with an optional overnight experience at the end of the week. Campers entering 2nd–12th grade attend overnight camp for 5 nights and 6 days, participating in themed sessions, wilderness programs, leadership opportunities, and outdoor adventures designed for their age group. Your Role at Camp Togowoods As the Kitchen Manager, you will play an essential role in creating a positive camp experience by ensuring campers and staff are provided with nutritious, safe, and enjoyable meals throughout the summer. You will oversee the daily operations of the camp kitchen, serving 50+ campers and staff three meals a day each week in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. Responsibilities may include menu planning, food ordering and inventory management, meal preparation and service, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards, and supervising or coordinating with kitchen support staff. You will help create a welcoming dining experience that supports the health, energy, and overall success of the camp community. We know summer schedules look different for everyone, and this role can be tailored to your availability and level of interest. Whether you are looking to fully immerse yourself in the overnight camp experience or prefer a more flexible arrangement, we are open to finding the right fit. We are looking for someone to manage our overnight camp kitchen for the summer, where we serve 50+ campers and staff 3 meals a day each week  We know summer looks different for everyone—this role can be tailored to your availability and level of interest. Possible role structures (open to other ideas): Full Time Kitchen Manager: Full responsibility for kitchen operations  - includes room and board Flexible Role: Focus on menu planning, ordering, and core meal service with reduced on-site hours (possibility of remote work) Start Date:  Early June End Date:  July 31 Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour or $700-$1000 per week Reports to: Camp Togowoods Director Why You’ll Love This Job: Spend the summer in a beautiful camp setting Be a key part of campers’ daily experience Build leadership and large-scale food service skills Work with a supportive, energetic team Responsibilities: Plan weekly menus that meet nutritional needs, allergies, and dietary restrictions Manage kitchen inventory and place weekly food orders Lead and support kitchen staff in daily meal preparation (3 meals/day + Snacks) Ensure staff have access to meals during time off and staff-only dining Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food storage environment Adapt quickly to changing needs and schedules Adjust menus for theme days and other special events while keeping with camp traditions Required experience and skills: Experience planning meals for groups of children and adults Knowledge of safe food handling practices Ability to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergens Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Able to lift 30-50 lb and stand for extended periods of time Be able to pass a background check Comfortable working in a rustic camp setting Able to be flexible and adapt to changes First Aid/CPR Certification (or ability to obtain before camp) Must be 18+ years old by the start date of camp. Preferred Experience and Skills Experience planning 3 meals/day for 50+ people Background in SFSP or other federally funded child nutrition programs Experience training or managing kitchen staff Able to create creative menus Food Safety Manager Certification Girl Scouts of Alaska is an equal opportunity employer.
