MAJOR DUTIES: The Clinical Supervisor establishes, administers, and directs the Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT), a self-contained clinical team which assumes responsibility for directly providing needed treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to identified clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses; supervises and evaluates the multidisciplinary team in conjunction with appropriate psychiatric support to ensure service excellence and courteous, helpful, and respectful services to program clients; and functions as a practicing clinician on the team. Has full clinical, administrative, and supervisory responsibility to the team Monitors and oversees all team operations, leads regular team clinical meetings, and provides individual supervision to all PACT team members (excluding the psychiatric provider) Oversees staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage to maintain PACT’s 24/7 clinical support Is responsible for outreach and recruitment in the community and development of strong connections to referral sources; leads the screening process for referrals, ultimately determining whether clients meet admission criteria for the program Leads staff recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, and performance reviews Provides direct services to clients and/or natural supports, approximately 8 hours a week When serving in the role of “primary clinician,” takes the lead on pulling together the Integrated Assessment, team case conceptualization, and treatment planning Initiates and maintains relationships, in coordination with other staff, with law enforcement, other human services agencies, and informal community resources (e.g., landlords, employers) Provides symptom education for clients and natural supports, as well as assistance in developing healthy coping strategies/symptom management skills Connects natural supports with resources, such as the local NAMI chapter Provides services to clients in the community and facilities (e.g., jail, E&T, ED). Services include the use of empirically based psychotherapies, case management, and psychiatric rehabilitation. May also lead comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and crisis planning for clients for whom they are the primary clinician Maintains a working knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and can access and coordinate with appropriate crisis intervention resources in the community, especially if hospitalization is required Provides cross training on empirically supported psychotherapies and models these skills for other team members Must be amenable to municipal travel for community visits and outreach and be able to work non-conforming hours to meet with clients/provide services KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION: Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field required. Mental Health Professional (MHP) designation required. Licensed in the State of Washington as an LMHC, LMFT, LICSW, or LAAC. Strong clinical skills and experience providing treatment to persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Three years of experience in diagnostic screening and assessment or care of individuals of psychotic disorders and expertise in working with individuals with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders and their families, utilizing empirically-based psychotherapies such as CBT for psychosis (CBT-p) preferred. Experience with and understanding of the characteristics and problems of adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses and knowledge of the ACT model. Competence to establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons with serious mental illness (SMI). Respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment isessential. Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to transport clients in personal vehicle. COMPLEXITY The incumbent provides agency-based services to patients seeking treatment. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and creativity are required to help implement and deliver support services that meet the complex needs of patients. PERSONAL CONTACTS Contacts are with members of the treatment team; patients and their significant others; administrative, supervisory, and clerical personnel; employers; representatives of various community agencies specializing in the treatment of behavioral health conditions; and other related community representatives, including lawyers, parole officers, and court officials. All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state statues, laws, and regulations dealing with the confidentiality of mental health and substance use client records. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak clearly, hear, and use hands and fingers to manipulate writing utensils and keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move maximum of 15 lbs. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Working hours are spent indoors in offices or meeting rooms or in the community meeting with patients in their homes, health clinics, or other appropriately deemed community spaces. Occasional supervision of outdoor activities, visits to community agencies, and participation in staff retreats and staff development activities may be required.
