Responsibilities
This position description does not represent a current opening but may be used to identify candidates with skills and experience to fill a position within Technica Corporation once the contract is awarded. Candidates who express an interest may be considered for future positions at Technica Corporation. If a position becomes available that aligns with your qualifications, our recruitment team will contact you.
Technica Corporation is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, self-directed individual to fill the Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) Systems Engineer position. The Systems Engineer will support the deployment, integration, and operational readiness of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware and software products. This position will play a key role in testing the solution, coordinating integration efforts among multiple technical teams, and ensuring a seamless transition into production.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a practical approach to problem-solving. This engineer will support the Solution Architect and collaborate closely with networking, server, security, and application teams to ensure the system is thoroughly documented, securely implemented, efficient, and aligned with mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the installation, configuration, and validation of COTS products in test and production environments.
Coordinate integration activities and qualification testing with cross-functional teams, including networking, compute and storage infrastructure, physical and virtual systems, identity and access management, and application owners.
Assess system requirements, dependencies, and integration points to verify compatibility and readiness for operation.
Understand, communicate, support, and coordinate activities including;
Networking—such as ports, protocols, firewalls, and load balancers—as required for system connectivity and certification.
Compute tasks such as server and virtual machine provisioning, configuration, and performance tuning.
Database - work with database teams to configure, query, and troubleshoot database server instances.
Identity and Access – authentication and authorization mechanisms, including single sign-on, and possessing experience and knowledge with DoD PKI/PKE implementations.
Integration - work with APIs and integration frameworks to facilitate data exchange and system interoperability.
Assist in preparing documentation in accordance with DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), and as required for system accreditation, compliance, and security assessments.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides, configuration baselines, and operational procedures.
Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and issue resolution throughout testing, qualification, and deployment phases.
Communicate project status, risks, and technical considerations clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
The position will be based at Technica’s facility in Dulles, VA, and requires on-site presence. Where permitted, remote work must be coordinated with the Program Manager to ensure there is no disruption to our service delivery. When the program transitions to the NOC / ITF, this position may be located at that facility, to be determined at a later date. This job may support a hybrid work schedule. The final approved work schedule arrangement will be coordinated with the hiring manager. This position may require 10%-20% travel.
