    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>This position is a 1.0 FTE located at&nbsp;Nottingham Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.</li><li>Special Education endorsement in emotionally disturbed.</li><li>Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"><strong>Experience</strong></p><p>Proven capacity to provide academic instruction to students based on state and district curriculum standards by:</p><ul><li>conducting assessment and evaluation of students’ abilities and needs.</li><li>maintaining students’ progress records and reports in a timely manner.</li><li><p>modifying the general education curriculum for students with disabilities, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.</p><p>&nbsp;</p></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Established competence to maintain cooperative working relationships with parents, staff, and other school personnel by:</p><ul><li>maintaining effective and timely written and oral communication with parents, staff, other school personnel.</li><li>providing active leadership and direction when attending various school and student related meetings.</li><li>conferring and collaborating with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons to promote learning in both the general and special education settings.&nbsp;</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">&nbsp;</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><p>Demonstrated ability to establish a learning environment that reinforces appropriate student behavior by:</p><ul><li>developing and modifying instructional activities to meet students’ individual IEP goals.</li><li>monitoring students’ behavioral and instructional progress through the collection of data.</li><li>practicing assessment methods, techniques, and tools for students with emotional disturbance.</li><li>applying principles and methods of positive behavior intervention and support.</li><li>establishing and maintaining behavioral management system for students to be used in both the general and special education settings.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Salary</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\"><strong>Arlington Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">It is the policy of the Arlington School Board, as stated in Policy G-2.30, Employee Relations – Equal Employment Opportunity - that “Employment opportunities shall not be restricted, abridged or otherwise adversely affected on the basis of race, national origin, creed, color, religion, gender, age, economic status, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, genetic information, gender identity or expression, and/or disability.”</p>",
