Division/Department: Human Services/Social Services
Location: Min No Aya Win Human Services Center & Center for American Indian Resources - Onsite
Reports To: Lead Indian Child Welfare Social Worker
Probationary Period: 90 days – Full time, 120 days – Part time
FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)
Classification: Child-Related CA
Driver’s License: Level 3- Valid U.S. Class D Driver’s License with Fond du Lac Insurability is required.
Rate of Pay: $56,063.84 to $63,071.82 salary.
Responsibilities
Referrals are accepted from the Tribal and County Social Workers.
A service plan will be devised by the Social Worker and client and will include short term, reasonable and attainable goals for individuals within the family (household) and the family as a unit.
Advocate for clients and serve as liaison with other providers.
Be knowledge of in-house and other service providers in the area.
Make appropriate referrals when necessary.
Schedule in-home time with all family members when appropriate and as often as necessary.
Worker must utilize skill building methods in the following areas: advocacy, acquiring basic needs, budgeting, cleaning, modeling, parenting, healthy interactions, seeking alternative play activity.
Weekly conferences will be held with other staff members regarding active cases.
Written records will be kept according to Department of Human Services and Fond du Lac Social Services.
Serve as the Children’s Mental Health Case Manager when appropriate.
Closure appropriately prior to exit and actual closure of case.
Assist in planning, development and presentation of recreational/educational events in the community.
Appropriate work attire is required.
Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
Valid U.S. Class D Driver’s license with Fond du Lac Insurability is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related social science field with two or more years of professional level work, supervised casework experience will be considered. Master’s degree is preferred.
Child protection and/or family intervention experience and knowledge of dynamics of alcoholism are required.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, data bases and/or data entry, Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Knowledge of Native American communities, culture, customs, and beliefs is preferred.
Experience working with Native Americans clients, communities and is able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
Subject to immunization review and submitted proof of required vaccinations.
Some travel is required.
