Overview
Senior Engineering Technician Civil
Location(s): St. Paul, MN Type: Full‑Time | Hourly
MSA is hiring a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Public Works team in St. Paul! The Public Works team supports a wide variety of civil engineering projects, ranging from roads, parks/trails, water/sewer, utilities, and more. In this role, you will assist with construction observation, contractor relationships, and design. This is primarily a field-based role.

Responsibilities
Role Responsibilities
Perform construction observation and field inspection services for public works and municipal infrastructure projects, including streets, utilities, stormwater, and site improvements.
Coordinate daily with contractors, municipal staff, utility representatives, and project managers to support successful project delivery in the field.
Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify construction activities comply with project requirements and applicable standards.
Document project progress through daily reports, photographs, quantity tracking, and field measurements.
Assist with construction staking verification, material testing coordination, and resolution of field issues during construction.
Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance on construction inspection procedures and documentation standards.
Qualifications
What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology (or related field) required
Valid driver's license required
5+ years of related experience required
This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position

Compensation Range: $29–$47 an hour (commensurate with experience)
