Description The Early Head Start Home Based Visitor Carnegie is responsible for providing high-quality early childhood education and family support services to eligible families with children from birth to age three. This role involves working directly with families in their homes to support their child's development, enhance parenting skills, and connect families to community resources. The Home Based Visitor will collaborate with other program staff to ensure that children and families receive comprehensive and individualized services. Duties and Responsibilities: Home Visits: Conduct 90-minute weekly home visits with families to provide individualized early childhood education and parenting support. Implement developmentally appropriate activities and strategies that support children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development. Assist parents in understanding and addressing their child's developmental milestones and learning needs. Family Engagement: Build strong, trusting relationships with families to support their involvement in their child's learning and development. Develop and implement family goal plans in collaboration with parents, setting objectives and tracking progress. Provide resources, guidance, and referrals to families to address needs such as health, nutrition, and social services. Organize and facilitate regular group socializations to provide opportunities for children and families to interact and engage in shared learning experiences. Program Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on each family’s progress, including documentation of home visits, assessments, and developmental screenings. Ensure adherence to Early Head Start program standards, policies, and procedures. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements . Collaborative Support: Work closely with other Early Head Start staff, including teachers, and program administrators, to ensure a coordinated approach to family support. Attend team meetings, case conferences, and professional development sessions as required. Community Outreach: Promote the Early Head Start program within the community to increase awareness and engagement. Assist in organizing and facilitating parent workshops, support groups, and community events. Recruit parents currently enrolled to serve as policy council representatives. Qualifications Education: Minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework as part of an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with young children (birth to 5 years old) and families, ideally in a Head Start, early childhood, or social services setting Experience in home-based service delivery or case management is preferred. Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of early childhood development, family dynamics, and parenting practices. Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Ability to build trusting relationships with families. Organizational skills and the ability to work independently. Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and preparing reports. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and online data systems. Ability to plan and implement home-based learning experiences that ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum and promote children’s progress across the standards described by the Office of Head Start, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners. Additional Requirements: Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date). School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date. CPR and First Aid certification is required (or willingness to obtain). Working Conditions: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
