Description
Our St. Helens Tree Farm has an opening for a Lead Forester. This position is based out of our Castle Rock, Washington office and reports to the St. Helens Area Manager, with additional accountabilities to the Region Forester for forestry activities in the area. This is a full-time, exempt position, with salary level dependent on skills and experience.
Key Functions:
This is a working leadership role with an estimate of 25% of the time being dedicated to management of the four person forestry team and 75% performing operational duties. The role is responsible for management of safety, environmental stewardship, people development, quality, production, and costs associated with the forestry operations. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the forestry plan execution in compliance with the regional and area forestry strategy and the annual budget plan. Set clear expectations, manage measurable and time bound goal setting, provide continuous feedback by communicating affirmation of progress and concerns early, resolve issues. Contract administration; negotiate, prepare, supervise, monitor for compliance, payment management. Developing and tracking budgets and key forestry metrics for the St. Helen’s forestry team. Ensure silviculture standards, targets and best practices are being performed. Forecasting forestry projects and expenditures. Advocate, model and inspect for safe work practices. Act as company representative with landowners, government agencies, and community representatives. Ensure compliance with state and federal safety statues, environmental requirements and Weyerhaeuser resource and stewardship goals. Collaborate with others on the area and region teams to ensure alignment with goals and objectives. Knowledge of state and federal forest practice rules/statutes. Team building, communication, analytical and critical thinking skills. Proficiency in use of personal computers and related software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Geographical Information Systems. Ability to develop, prioritize, plan, implement and manage activities to meet targets and deadlines with occasional extended work periods and weekend work. Experience in project management and contract administration. Valid driver’s license is required, as work involves driving company vehicles on rough roads (25,000 miles per year). Desired:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of %2498,000 - %24148,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
