This role performs general upkeep and cleaning of park facilities, public rights-of-way, and medians.</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">Experience, Education, and Skills:<br>Minimum Requirements:<br>· High school diploma or equivalent.<br>· Experience using a truck plow, hand shovel, snow blower, poly cord trimmer, and gas-powered water pump.<br>· Intermediate knowledge of horticulture and specific landscape maintenance practices.<br>· Experience transplanting trees and shrubs by hand.<br>· Knowledge of and ability to recognize shrub and perennial species in all seasons and to diagnose common insect and disease issues of landscape plants.<br>OR</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">AND<br>Possession of a valid driver’s license.</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">Preferred:<br>· One (1) year of grounds maintenance experience.<br>· Bilingual in English and Spanish.</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<br>· Ability to use required safety equipment and take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents.<br>· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and general public.<br>· Experience handling difficult situations using tact, patience, and good judgment.<br>· Experience operating motorized equipment and a variety of hand and power tools.</p><p style=\"margin-left: 0px;\">Essential Functions:<br>· Plant, mulch, weed, prune, water, apply chemicals and pick up trash out of landscape beds.<br>· Provide a consistent maintenance program which helps to improve our overall appearance and image for the entire city.<br>· Ensure grounds and green spaces are waters via irrigation systems including inground, manual sprinklers, and hand watering.
