    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Department 454 Tactical Software Engineering applies software and computer engineering skills to specify, design, develop, integrate, test, and subcontract manage software development for US Navy Nuclear Submarines.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Collaborating with systems engineers, tactical submarine software is developed and maintained for a variety of submarine platforms and control systems such as: Ship Control, Combat Launch Control, Weapons Stowage and Handling, as well as other specialized embedded real-time safety critical shipboard and database systems, simulators, and land based trainers.  Knowledge of the software development lifecycle is required for this position. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Additional responsibilities include software research and development, preparing presentations, participating in NAVSEA design reviews and interfacing closely with hardware and system engineering departments.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong> </strong><strong>Required:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering</li>\n <li>0-5 years of engineering experience </li>\n <li>Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrable knowledge of software programming languages, such as Ada, C/C++, Java, etc.</li>\n <li>Understanding of Linux Operating System</li>\n <li>Familiarity with Git and GitLab for configuration management</li>\n <li>Understanding of requirements analysis, software design, code and unit test, and software/hardware integration</li>\n <li>Networking knowledge is highly desirable</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be highly motivated, perform work independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in an engineering environment</li>\n <li>Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>",
