Description

Lead RPG Application Developer Summary Counterpoint is seeking application development support, maintenance, and enhancement services for a large, legacy application built on the IBM Power 10 platform, V7R4. The main application development language is RPG IV/ILE/FREE and the database is IBM DB2. This is expected to be a multi-year effort spanning a duration of 3-4 years. In addition to technical support, this position also requires interfacing with a contracted separate development team who will be tasked with a modernization effort to replace this legacy system. Job Responsibilities Application Development using various versions of RPG: maintaining and enhancing the current system, including, but not limited to, business projects and implementing changes due to required legislation. Collecting and reviewing business requirements to satisfy a business or legislative request. Responsible for managing the development team and assigning tasks to junior developers. Writing and reviewing technical requirements to fulfill business requirements. This may include the creation of program specifications. Performing all application changes per client requirements. Performing unit and integration testing. Assisting our client with completing user acceptance testing. Migrating changes to production in conjunction with the client's IT department. Working with our client to monitor the changes in production and resolve any post go-live issues. DB2 Database Development including, but not limited to, creating and modifying DB2 tables, creating and modifying embedded DB2 SQL statements in RPG programs, writing SQL statements in query utilities, and reviewing and tuning database performance. Maintenance activities as indicated by the client. Prerequisites Minimum of seven (7) years of application development team lead experience in a mainframe environment. Minimum of seven (7) years of RPG development experience. Minimum of seven (7) years of relational database development experience. DB2 experience is highly preferred. Experience must include understanding of database system constraints, referential integrity, and database normalization. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with CLLE - command language. Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with DDS - Interactive Screen, Menu, File and Report definitions. Please note: Employment offers for the RPG Developer position are contingent upon our successful acquisition of a specific project. We anticipate this will be finalized by November 2023, with an employment start date of December 2023.
