Recovery Support Specialist BH
$500 Sign on Bonus
The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges, those who have suffered a trauma, and those at risk to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are looking for a Recovery Support Specialist BH who exemplifies that mission and wants to work for an organization that makes a difference.
What you will be doing?
This position creates the opportunity for a person with lived experience (in recovery from mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders). This job position is intended to support the acquisition of experiential hours and participation in CRSS training modules in order to move the person towards meeting certification requirements.
This position will also collaborate with Behavioral Health Treatment Teams to provide community support and psycho-social services to individuals opened to BH services in order to: (1) decrease mental health dysfunction, (2) increase community functioning, and (3) assist clients in achieving recovery goals.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Attend scheduled work hours and be flexible to meet client and program needs.
Attend scheduled CRSS trainings and participate in CRSS team meetings
Observe the provision of direct services to individuals with BH concerns
Learn to utilize personal recovery experiences to offer peer support to clients while providing community support services that promote a reduction of crisis episodes and the improvement of community functioning
Learn how to ensure that care provided integrates all facets of clients’ lives including mental/emotional health, physical health/wellness, employment and education, social and family relationships, substance use/abuse issues, and housing needs.
Assist with community support groups, psychosocial rehabilitation groups, and therapy groups.
Collaborate and effectively communicate with appropriate staff to ensure coordinated care
Learn to provide services that promote the reduction of behavioral health dysfunction and increased community functioning in order to meet rehabilitative, resiliency, and recovery goals
Must meet minimum service hour provision productivity standards (MRO) monthly
Complete and sign all MRO documentation (encounters) every 48 hours in Cx360.
Maintain open and effective communication with agency and provider staff, family, and others
Promote awareness of mental health, both internally and externally
Create relationships with local mental health providers, community psychiatric hospitals and other support services in order to expand services and enhance supports to individuals served
Learn to function as an advocate ensuring protection of an individual's rights while providing a training element to empower persons with disabilities to understand and protect those rights
Acquire and maintain required trainings and certifications as well as any other trainings assigned by Manager.
Learn to submit, in a timely and accurate fashion, billing, timesheets, mileage and other reports as required
Fulfill other duties as assigned

Qualifications
What will you bring to the table?
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service field preferred.
License/certifications: CRSS (Certified Recovery Support Specialist) certification preferred, or certification requirements should be met within one year of hire, and certification obtained within 18 months (about 1 and a half years) and maintained throughout employment.
Experience: Some mental health experience preferred, in recovery from mental illness or co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorder
Physical: Position requires ability to communicate in-person, telephone and in group settings. Requires frequent standing; walking; use of hands to handle or feel; and reaching with hands and arms.
Equipment: Position operates in a professional office environment and off-site in various community settings. Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility to work evening hours
Reliable means of transportation to and from work
Ability to work with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural competency and community awareness
Proficient in or experience in use of a variety of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
