    "description": "<p>Join our dynamic and innovative team at ThayerMahan, a world leader in autonomous maritime surveillance and monitoring.  Headquartered in Groton, CT, we are a fast-growing, mission-focused, innovative technology company in the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) space.  At ThayerMahan we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Position: EHS Specialist                                        FLSA: Exempt</p>\n<p>Reports to: Director of Safety, Security, and Facilities   Primary Hours: M-F 8am-5pm</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Summary:</span> </p>\n<p>The EHS Specialist position is responsible for promoting and improving safety awareness with the emphasis on preventing incidents, injuries, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Acts as the main point of contact for any safety related issues.  Assists with recognizing and assessing hazards in the workplace and recommending corrective measures. Works closely with leadership to ensure company policies and procedures are followed and promotes best practices. Conducts required safety training and provides coaching as necessary.  Additional responsibilities will be to perform emergency drills, training, inspections/audits, and assist with maintaining compliance program requirements. </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Position Results:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elevated awareness of safety in the company</li>\n<li>Conduct inspections, audits, and incident investigations</li>\n<li>Continuous improvement towards achieving company goals</li>\n<li>Ensure employee compliance with company safety program</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Duties and Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with development and implementation of company safety and health programs, policies, and procedures</li>\n<li>Help to ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO45001 requirements</li>\n<li>Maintain facility SDS system and GHS labeling requirements</li>\n<li>Maintain injury records and conduct incident investigations/root cause analysis</li>\n<li>Participate in management of corrective actions from investigations, inspections and audits</li>\n<li>Facilitate monthly EHS training according to training plan and conduct new employee orientation</li>\n<li>Conduct PPE assessments and safety/hazard risk assessments</li>\n<li>Administer Safety Observation and Lessons Learned Programs</li>\n<li>Conduct routine facility safety inspections and audits</li>\n<li>Help to foster a work environment that promotes environment conservation and continuous improvement</li>\n<li>Facilitate Safety Committee meetings</li>\n<li>Ensures compliance with all regulatory related laws and standards</li>\n<li>Promote a culture of safety</li>\n<li>Active member of emergency response team</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exhibit strong leadership and interpersonal skills</li>\n<li>Possess strong organization and record keeping skills</li>\n<li>Effectively communicate with all levels of company personnel</li>\n<li>Present training material to groups</li>\n<li>Strong MS Office/computer knowledge</li>\n<li>Coach, mentor, lead, and influence to promote a culture of safety</li>\n<li>Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills with the ability to drive resolution</li>\n<li>Ability to work independently or as part of a team</li>\n<li>Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously</li>\n<li>Handle confidential information with complete security</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Requirements for Consideration</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>BS Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety field (work experience may be substituted)</li>\n<li>Solid understanding of general safety laws and regulations (OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, EPA) desired</li>\n<li>3 years experience working in a manufacturing setting (marine industry preferred)</li>\n<li>OSHA 10/30hr General Industry certification preferred</li>\n<li>ISO 14001 and 45001 experience preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be capable of physical exertion such as long periods of standing, sitting, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching and reaching</li>\n<li>Must be capable of recurring lifting or handling heavy items or similar activities from ground level to above the head with weights of up to 50 pounds throughout the work shift</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Competitive salary, comprehensive total rewards package (medical, dental, vision, 401K with employer match), and other great benefits.  Opportunity to continue to develop your career at a growing organization.  This is an exempt position.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>If you meet the requirements and are ready to make waves with us, apply now!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>ThayerMahan is an Equal Opportunity Employer and doesn’t discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, genetic information, protected veteran status, or other non-merit factor.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p> </p>",
