    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<div style=\"font-style:normal; font-weight:400\">\n <p><strong>What We're Looking For:</strong></p>\n <p>Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced <strong>Senior Project Manager</strong> with a strong background in <strong>highway, roadway, and/or transit design</strong> to support and grow our Highway/Civil Design practice. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and proven experience delivering complex civil engineering projects.</p>\n <p>You will lead and support the development of roadway geometry, roadside safety, ADA design, site work, utilities, contract documents (plans, specifications, cost estimates), Maintenance &amp; Protection of Traffic, alternatives analyses, stakeholder coordination, and technical proposal development. Experience working with agencies such as <strong>MassDOT, RIDOT, ConnDOT, MBTA, RIPTA, and Massport</strong> is strongly preferred.</p>\n <p>This role offers significant opportunities for career growth, including project management, technical leadership, and department/office leadership pathways. We strongly support professional development through local and national training programs, including our online Leadership Institute.</p>\n <div style=\"font-style:normal; font-weight:400\">\n  <i>*Please note this is a part-time role and is not eligible for company benefits.</i>\n </div>\n <p><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></p>\n <ul>\n  <li>Lead and support a team of engineers in the design and production of construction drawings.</li>\n  <li>Prepare and/or review project bid documents including plans, cost estimates, and technical specifications.</li>\n  <li>Execute civil engineering tasks such as horizontal and vertical geometric design, 3D corridor modeling, design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and construction cost estimating.</li>\n  <li>Serve as Task Lead, collaborating with Project Managers on project progress, issues, and risks.</li>\n  <li>Prepare technical studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, and supporting material.</li>\n  <li>Conduct occasional site visits and prepare findings for engineering and project management teams.</li>\n  <li>Participate in client communication, project meetings, and issue resolution.</li>\n  <li>Define scopes of work and staff-hour needs for proposals.</li>\n  <li>Assist in ensuring project schedules and budgets are achieved.</li>\n  <li>Contribute to technical aspects of proposal development and project pursuits.</li>\n  <li>Mentor EITs, junior engineers, and technicians to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables.</li>\n  <li>Maintain professional knowledge through training, seminars, and continued learning.</li>\n  <li>Review shop drawings for compliance with contract plans.</li>\n  <li>Support proposal and capture efforts for new opportunities.</li>\n </ul>\n <p><strong>What You Need to Succeed:</strong></p>\n <ul>\n  <li>Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).</li>\n  <li>20+ years of highway design experience with transportation agencies such as MassDOT, RIDOT, ConnDOT, MBTA, RIPTA, or Massport (preferred).</li>\n  <li>Strong working knowledge of AASHTO design guidelines, FHWA MUTCD, and State DOT standards.</li>\n  <li>Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in MA, CT, or RI (preferred).</li>\n  <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li>\n  <li>Ability to quickly learn company procedures, software, service offerings, and client standards.</li>\n  <li>Proficiency in 3D modeling and software such as Bentley InRoads/OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office Suite.</li>\n  <li>Experience with traffic engineering, drainage design, and related software is a plus.</li>\n </ul>\n <p><strong>Compensation:</strong></p>\n <p>The approximate compensation range for this position is $160,000 - $230,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
