Wood is currently accepting applications for Instrumentation Technician Journeyperson - Adhoc personnel with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This role will be located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador. This will be a casual call-out role. The successful candidate will be willing and eligible to travel Offshore via helicopter or supply vessel.
As an Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing the measuring and control devices (electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic) used in industrial processing. You will also be expected to read, understand, and follow drawings and specifications. Along with the use of power, pneumatic, electronic and hand tools. You will be working in confined spaces and/or at heights, as well as noisy conditions. Work may be indoors or outdoors, and at extreme temperatures.
The Role
Location: Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador
Site / Office based: Hibernia Platform
Hours of work: 12 hours per day
Rotation / work pattern: Call out, as needed
Required: Site-specific medical, drug and alcohol testing
Unionized position: Rates follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement
You will be working in confined spaces and/or at heights, as well as noisy conditions. Work may be indoors or outdoors, and at extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities
Follow all company and site-specific safety rules. Working within the Company’s Safety Program at all times. Maintain behaviour-based safety essentials and adherence to the Life Saving Rules. Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc.
Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Able to adequately comprehend and communicate using the English Language
Listen and communicate effectively and respectfully. Work as a part of a team, under the direction of a foreman and/or general foreman. Maintain motivation to work safely and productively
Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy, understanding and following specifications and drawings
Apply mathematical formulas to solve problems
Interpret and use appropriate CSA, ISA and API installation standards and practices
Inspect meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations
Tests accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system. Use test equipment, such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, oscilloscopes, transistor curve tracers, and ammeters, voltmeters, and watt-meters
Trace out and test electronic solid state and vacuum tube circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital systems, or radiation monitoring systems
Use test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals
Remove defective instruments from system, decontaminate, disassemble, and clean instruments, and replace defective parts, using hand tools
Reassemble instruments and replace instruments using hand tools
Lubricate instruments and replace defective wiring and tubing
Calibrate readings on instruments according to standards. Adjusts phasing and align stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function
Record calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand
Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and report to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
What makes you remarkable?
Successful completion of 4 Period Apprenticeship in the trade, followed by Journeyperson Certification OR provides evidence of a minimum of 6,120 hours of experience directly related to the trade
Minimum of 3 -5 years' experience in industrial construction, maintenance, fabrication, and/or repair (preferred offshore experience)
Journeypersons in the trade must demonstrate competence in their trade
The following Offshore Certificates and Training is required and would be considered an asset:
Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
Rigging, Slinging, and Banksman
Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
Fall Protection
Confined Space Entry
Emergency First Aid

May be required consistently to work 12hour shifts performing physical labour in varying temperature extremes and conditions. May be required to work overtime on occasion
Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework, utilizing proper fall arrest procedures when required. Able to safely and comfortably work at heights without posing a danger to oneself or others
