In this role, you&rsquo;ll support real-world conservation and restoration projects by turning geospatial data into clear, accurate maps and tools used by scientists, field crews, and decision-makers.</p><p>You&rsquo;ll work closely with the GIS Manager and senior GIS staff, gaining hands-on experience with GIS analysis, web mapping, mobile data collection, and field technologies. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their GIS career who enjoys variety, learning new tools, and seeing their work directly impact conservation outcomes.</p><hr><h3><strong>What You&rsquo;ll Do</strong></h3><ul><li>Create high-quality <strong>print and online maps</strong> showing site conditions, habitat, hydrology, species occurrences, and project designs</li><li>Build and maintain <strong>ArcGIS Online web maps and datasets</strong> used by field teams and project managers</li><li>Assist with <strong>spatial and raster analysis</strong> to support project planning and decision-making</li><li>Research, obtain, and organize <strong>publicly available geospatial datasets</strong></li><li>Support and maintain <strong>historic species and property data</strong></li><li>Coordinate with field crews to <strong>download, QC, correct, and digitize field data</strong></li><li>Provide first-level support for <strong>GPS and mobile data collection tools</strong> (Trimble GPS, iPads, Eos Arrow GNSS)</li><li>Participate in <strong>field work</strong>, including GPS data collection and drone flights, as needed</li><li>Support business development by preparing data for modeling and scenario analysis</li><li>Pitch in where needed&mdash;this is a team that shares responsibilities and works cross-functionally</li></ul><hr><h3><strong>What You Bring</strong></h3><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in&nbsp;<strong>Geography, Environmental Science</strong>, or a related field<br><em>or</em> a <strong>GIS Certificate</strong> from a 1&ndash;2 year program</li><li><strong>1&ndash;2 years</strong> of GIS-related experience (work or hands-on coursework)</li><li>Experience with <strong>ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online</strong>, and/or Esri mobile apps (Field Maps, Survey123)</li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented workflows</li><li>Comfort juggling multiple tasks while meeting deadlines</li><li>Curiosity, technical aptitude, and a willingness to learn new tools</li><li>A service mindset and desire to support both internal and external partners</li><li>Ability to work independently while collaborating with a close-knit team</li></ul><hr><h3><strong>Nice to Have</strong></h3><ul><li>Experience with Experience Builder, Story Maps, Field Maps Designer</li><li>Know how to create <strong>metadata and GIS documentation</strong></li><li>Intermediate <strong>Excel</strong> skills</li><li>Coursework or experience in <strong>remote sensing or raster data</strong></li><li>Background in <strong>habitat, species, land use, soils, or parcel data</strong></li><li>Experience using <strong>AI tools or building AI workflows</strong> for data analysis</li><li>Exposure to <strong>web mapping technologies</strong> (e.g., JavaScript)</li></ul><hr><h3><strong>Why Westervelt?</strong></h3><ul><li>Pay range $70-80K plus an 8% annual bonus target.</li><li>Full benefit package to include health care, paid time off (vacation, sick holiday), 401k with match, flexible work hours, including work from home potential</li><li>You get to make a difference! &nbsp;Work on projects that <strong>directly support conservation and restoration</strong></li><li>Learn and grow in a supportive environment that values accuracy, teamwork, and innovation</li></ul></div>\n",
