    "description_html": "<p><strong>SUMMARY</strong><br>As a contract employee, you are bound by the contents of your contract as well as the BMCHS Faculty Handbook which required your signature.</p><p><strong>The Diocese of Orlando four core values lay the foundation for the work performed by employees:</strong></p><p>1. <em>Authenticity</em>: Conviction that God has called us to reflect exteriorly our inner life of faith in our daily living</p><p>2. <em>Respect:</em> Affirming each person’s God-given dignity and uniqueness.</p><p>3. <em>Courage</em>: Inspired by this gift of the Holy Spirit, we proclaim and live the Word of God fearlessly and devotedly.</p><p>4. <em>Commitment</em>: Individually and collectively, we are steadfast to the team and its purpose.</p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><p><u>Instructional and Program Management:</u></p><p>As a professional educator in a Catholic school, the teacher will:</p><ul><li>Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.</li><li>Understand and appropriately teach the designated curriculum of the Diocese of Orlando.</li><li>Assess student progress in accordance with the approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando.</li><li>Know, teach and act consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy objectives, and policies and procedures of the Catholic school.</li><li>Maintain Florida state teaching certification.</li><li>Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues, and principal.</li><li>Participate in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and school-sponsored professional development program and strive for continual professional growth.</li><li>Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal.</li><li>Attend required faculty and staff meetings.</li><li>Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities, and projects.</li><li>Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.</li><li>Participate in the semi-annual performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school.</li><li>Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters, except in cases where the health or safety of the student or others is involved. In these cases, the appropriate administrator should be notified immediately.</li><li>Handle routine discipline problems within the classroom.</li><li>Exhibit professional standards of attendance, punctuality, grooming, language, preparation, and relationship to students as both an adult example and member of a faith community.</li><li>Must refrain from public criticism of administration, faculty, students, or parents.</li><li>Has a good understanding of the goals and objectives of the entire school program.</li><li>Is open to continuous progress using contemporary approaches of instruction, technology, and methodology.</li><li>Ensure the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.</li></ul><p><u>Policy, Reports and Law:</u></p><ul><li>Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policies in curriculum and instructional areas.</li><li>Compile, maintain, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.</li></ul><p><u>Budgeting:</u></p><ul><li>Administer the curriculum and instruction budget and ensure that programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.</li><li>Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.</li><li>Assist with recruitment, selection, and training of personnel in the department and make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
