Description
About Company:
At Pediatric Speech Lab, we are dedicated to providing exceptional Speech and Language Therapy and Behavioral Health Services that support children in reaching their full potential. By leveraging our innovative hybrid and teletherapy model, we expand access to personalized care across state lines. We are committed to empowering families, nurturing effective communication, and guiding each child toward independence and long-term success.
About the Role:
The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) at Pediatric Speech Lab plays a vital role in supporting licensed speech-language pathologists in delivering high-quality therapeutic services to children with speech, language, and communication disorders. This position focuses on implementing individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a certified speech-language pathologist, ensuring that each child receives tailored interventions to improve their communication skills. The SLPA will engage with pediatric clients in a compassionate and professional manner, fostering a positive and encouraging environment that promotes progress and confidence. Additionally, the role involves documenting therapy sessions, monitoring client progress, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families to support holistic care. Ultimately, the SLPA contributes significantly to enhancing the developmental outcomes and quality of life for children served by the Pediatric Speech Lab.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Speech Language Pathologist Assistant program or equivalent coursework. Current state certification or licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, if required by the state. Basic knowledge of speech, language, and communication disorders in pediatric populations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with children, families, and clinical staff. Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and work under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with pediatric clients in a clinical or educational setting. Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and techniques. CPR and First Aid certification. Bilingual abilities, especially in languages commonly spoken in the local community. Continuing education or training in pediatric speech and language development. Responsibilities:
Assist licensed speech-language pathologists in implementing individualized treatment plans for pediatric clients. Conduct therapy sessions with children under the supervision of a certified speech-language pathologist, using evidence-based techniques. Document client progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports as required by the supervising clinician. Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to provide updates and support strategies for use outside of therapy sessions. Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care. Skills:
The required skills enable the SLPA to effectively support speech-language pathologists by accurately implementing therapy plans and engaging pediatric clients in developmentally appropriate activities. Strong communication skills are essential for building rapport with children and collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams. Attention to detail is critical for documenting therapy sessions and monitoring client progress to inform treatment adjustments. Preferred skills such as familiarity with AAC devices enhance the SLPA's ability to support diverse communication needs, while bilingual abilities facilitate better service delivery to non-English-speaking families. Overall, these skills ensure the SLPA contributes meaningfully to the therapeutic process and promotes positive outcomes for pediatric clients.
