Description

Department Overview The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) is recognized as a top integrated center for cardiovascular clinical care, translational research and professional training in all aspects of heart and vascular disease. Guided by a multi-disciplinary approach, researchers and clinicians drive a vibrant translational research program, which focuses on delivering the latest knowledge and cutting edge care to patients. Specifically, research at KCVI seeks to improve patient outcomes by achieving earlier diagnosis of disease, more accurate monitoring of its progression, and tailoring therapy to the molecular basis of disease. Function/Duties of Position The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. They will be joining a dynamic Center that focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to cardiovascular risk reduction through both collaboration with basic scientists and state-of-the art therapeutics. Training in the physiology and therapeutics of lipids, glucose metabolism, and inflammation preferred (such as a fellowship in Preventive Cardiology or Cardiometabolic Medicine). Obesity medicine principles and therapeutics are commonly employed by our group and prospective candidates will be expected to acquire these skills. Clinical: Majority of your time will be spent clinically in Preventive Cardiology. The general clinical duties will include ambulatory clinics, approximately 6 weeks (generally 2 weeks each rotation) serving as an attending physician on the inpatient cardiology services (CCU or consult), as well as supporting non-invasive imaging, including ECHO, CT and MRI imaging, with a focus on patients with non-invasive subclinical atherosclerosis. Serving as an attending in our outreach programs may also be required depending on availability and the divisional needs. Providers are also expected to take a fair share of call. Research: We expect providers in this role will be involved in clinical studies in collaboration with colleagues in the section, and will work to develop a portfolio of clinical research activities funded from external sources. Additional non-clinical time will be provided commensurate with funding to support that effort. Education: As teaching is an important portion of the cardiology mission you will be responsible for the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. Required Qualifications Must be licensed MD/DO Active DEA Certification Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology Preferred Qualifications Prior experience practicing in an academic health facility is preferred Prior experience practicing as a Preventive Cardiologist is preferred Additional Details #Cardiologyfaculty Why apply to OHSU? We are Oregon's only public academic health center. In addition to caring for patients, we lead groundbreaking research. We also train the next generation of health care professionals. As Portland's largest employer, we give you opportunities to learn and advance in a system of hospitals and clinics across Oregon and Southwest Washington. All are welcome. OHSU welcomes people of all ages, ethnicities, genders, national origins, religions and sexual orientations. We are striving to build an anti-racist, multicultural institution and encourage people with diverse backgrounds to apply. To request reasonable accommodation, contact [email protected]
