Description

ERG is a research and consulting firm that provides a wide range of support to federal, state, and commercial clients. ERG offers multidisciplinary teams with nationally recognized skills in engineering, science, economics, public health, informational technology, and communications. We hire people with the best minds and then provide them with a vibrant and flexible environment in which to develop their careers. The qualified individual must be highly motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. ERG is seeking a curious, detail-oriented analyst to support national occupational safety and health programs by analyzing and classifying real-world workplace injury and illness data. Your work directly supports the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) efforts to understand injury and illness trends and improve worker safety across the U.S. This entry- or mid-level role is ideal for someone who enjoys analytical work, applies sound judgement consistently, and is motivated by contributing to real world improvements in worker health and safety. You will analyze work-related fatality, catastrophe, and severe injury or illness records, draft brief incident narratives, and assign case characteristic codes for each using the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS). This position is available part-time (minimum 20 hours/week) or full-time, is fully remote, and includes daily collaboration with a supportive analyst team using Microsoft Teams. ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401k plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11-20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 hours or more of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro-rated for part-time) and more. The salary range for all positions depends on the years and type of experience. ERG is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable EEOC regulations. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual preference, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. Please be aware, the only authentic corporate domain for ERG is https://www.erg.com.  ERG may, on occasion, screen applicants via telephone or video interviews via Skype, Teams, GoToMeeting, or another type of video platform. However, any candidate extended a job offer might be asked to meet in person with an ERG employee before providing confidential personal information associated with new employment. If you’re a qualified individual with a disability or a disabled veteran, you have the right to request a reasonable accommodation if you are unable or limited in your ability to use or access ERG’s online application process as a result of your disability. To request accommodation, please contact Human Resources via email at [email protected] or call (781) 674-7293. ERG fosters a friendly, flexible work environment. ERGers are dedicated to serving clients who are committed to making the world a better place. We promote and recognize principles of fairness and respect in the work we do, the partnerships we foster, and the culture we value both within and outside of our organization. Job Description: Review workplace injury, illness, and fatality records and apply standardized case‑classification codes using the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS). Exercise thoughtful, independent judgment to accurately classify complex or ambiguous cases while maintaining speed and consistency. Draft brief, clear incident narratives that summarize the circumstances of each case in plain, concise language. Manage multiple work queues and deadlines while maintaining high quality and attention to detail. Collaborate regularly with team members and senior analysts for guidance, quality checks, and knowledge sharing. Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and evolving analytical practices over time. Experience with occupational health and safety and structured coding (e.g. OIICS, ICD coding) is preferred. However, training for OIICS version 3.03 coding will be provided. Qualifications and Skills: A bachelor’s degree in communications, health/environmental science, statistics, or related field Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to apply rules consistently Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely Outstanding time-management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment to accomplish assignments in a timely manner Experience or strong interest in data analysis, public health, occupational safety, epidemiology, or related fields Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) Willingness and ability to learn new software and technical skills as required Preferred Qualifications: Experience with structured classification or coding systems (e.g., OIICS, ICD, or similar) Experience or coursework in data analysis or data management Familiarity with SAS, R, Power BI, Qlik, or other analytical tools Prior exposure to occupational health, injury or illness surveillance, or public health research
