We build, preserve, and finance affordable housing and use that expertise to inform and advance resident-focused solutions to strengthen the broader affordable housing industry.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>NHT has a staff of 60+ across five program areas: Policy, Lending, Real Estate Development, Community Outreach and Impact, and Sustainability. Our hallmark is our cross-functional, integrated approach to innovating, demonstrating, and amplifying solutions to the affordable housing crisis in the U.S.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>NHT owns and operates the Villages of East River Apartments located at 305 37th St SE, Washington, DC 20019. As part of our commitment to residents, NHT is working with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) to launch a yearlong initiative to address food insecurity.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Our Community Outreach and Impact (COI) team is dedicated to resident success. We believe that all people deserve affordable housing and that integrated, onsite services provide accessible support to our residents.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(241, 90, 34); font-weight: bold\">POSITION</span></p>\n<p>We are seeking one Villages of East River resident to serve as a Food Pantry Coordinator.  This is a contract position that will begin in February 2026-December 2026.  The Food Pantry Coordinator will oversee operations of our small community food pantry and will work closely with staff from NHT and residents in your community. This position will be contracted by NHT.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This position is DC-based. Due to the nature of the work, this position offers no remote work options. <span>Depending on location, this position requires approximately 3 to 10 hours per month, including all distribution days and preparation time.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(241, 90, 34); font-weight: bold\">RESPONSIBILITIES</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage inventory</li>\n<li>Schedule and supervise volunteers during operating hours</li>\n<li>Coordinate with NHT on food deliveries and restocking</li>\n<li>Maintain pantry organization and cleanliness standards</li>\n<li>Process resident intake and maintain confidential records</li>\n<li>Monitor expiration dates and food safety compliance</li>\n<li>Identify and address specific community nutritional needs</li>\n<li>Coordinate special holiday or seasonal distribution events</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(241, 90, 34); font-weight: bold\">MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lifting heavy items</li>\n<li>Stooping, kneeling, and standing while managing inventory and distributions</li>\n<li>Hand deliveries to households with mobility challenges</li>\n<li>Taking instructions from National Housing Trust staff regarding how to conduct the work and store the supplies</li>\n<li>Because this position works with youth, a background check is required</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(241, 90, 34); font-weight: bold\">QUALIFICATIONS</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong organizational and communication skills</li>\n<li>Compassionate attitude and commitment to community service</li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and lead a team of volunteers</li>\n<li>Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping</li>\n</ul>",
