This is a two-year, grant-funded position. Our Approach to Substance Abuse Prevention The Manager of Substance Prevention and Intervention leads Rocky Mountain Prep’s network-wide strategy for student substance use prevention, early intervention, and restorative support across all secondary schools while supporting upstream prevention efforts at elementary campuses. This role oversees systems for referrals, student interventions, family partnership, staff training, and cross-campus implementation to ensure schools respond proactively and effectively to student needs. The Manager also serves as the primary liaison for external counseling and prevention partners, ensuring high-quality services and coordinated care. A key responsibility of this position is managing grant-funded initiatives, tracking measurable outcomes, and ensuring successful execution of prevention programming aligned to organizational priorities. Managers of Substance Prevention and Intervention at Rocky Mountain Prep will... Lead Rocky Mountain Prep’s network-wide substance prevention and early intervention strategy across secondary schools while building developmentally appropriate prevention systems for elementary campuses. Design and implement proactive systems that shift school responses from reactive discipline toward prevention, restoration, and student-centered support. Partner with school leaders, mental health teams, student culture teams, and families to coordinate effective interventions and support plans for students demonstrating substance use concerns or related risk factors. Oversee grant-funded prevention initiatives by managing implementation, tracking outcomes, ensuring compliance with deliverables, and demonstrating measurable impact. Build staff capacity through training, coaching, and consultation on youth substance use trends, early warning signs, restorative responses, and referral pathways. Use data to identify trends, target resources, improve systems, and inform strategic decision-making across the network. Manage relationships with community providers and external partners to expand student and family access to counseling, treatment, and prevention resources. All Members of the Mental Health Team at Rocky Mountain Prep will: Advance the social-emotional, behavioral, and mental wellness of students through strengths-based, culturally responsive, and equity-driven practices grounded in a multi-tiered system of support. They proactively design and implement Tier 1, 2, and 3 interventions that promote safety, belonging, and academic access, while responding effectively to crisis and high-impact student needs. These team members partner closely with families, educators, and community providers to remove barriers to learning, uphold student rights, and ensure compliance with all applicable special education and student services regulations. They use data to inform decisions, coach adults toward best practices, and serve as trusted advocates so that every scholar experiences dignity, connection, and the opportunity to thrive. Required: Demonstrated commitment to equity and culturally responsive practice Strong knowledge of adolescent substance use trends, risk factors, protective factors, and prevention strategies Experience coordinating student interventions, case management, or support planning for youth and families Strong project management, organizational, and execution skills Experience using data to drive decisions, monitor progress, and demonstrate outcomes Experience facilitating adult learning, coaching staff, or leading professional development Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive student and family matters Preferred: Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) credential Clinical licensure such as LCSW, LPC, or equivalent Experience working in schools, charter school systems, or youth-serving organizations Experience managing grants, funded initiatives, or contract deliverables Experience with SBIRT, motivational interviewing, harm reduction, or adolescent treatment models Bilingual Spanish/English Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Addiction Studies, or a related field required.   Years of experience (total overall years of experience and years of directly relevant experience required) : Minimum of 5 years of overall professional experience required, including at least 3 years of directly relevant experience in substance use prevention, youth intervention, school-based mental health, behavioral health, counseling, or related fields.
